Today was the start of my holiday staycation. I live in Manhattan. After work (we got out early) I took the subway home. I changed into fresh clothes, went back out, then hopped on a city bus headed uptown. I rode for about 70 blocks just enjoying the sights of all the different neighborhoods my bus passed through. I disembarked and walked downtown for about 20 blocks before hopping on another bus home. So many interesting places and people to see on a humble bus ride alone with your thoughts. Good times. My NYC apartment overlooks the street. Add summer heat/smog/soot. I can't live w/o my AC in the summer. It cuts down the street noise, provides me with coolness, and helps filter out (or bar) the polluted air from getting in. Not that I don't throw open the windows when weather permits. But when it's above 79 degrees outside? AC on. 5 Unexpected Benefits to Forgoing the Air Conditioner | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

I went on Friday after work and I must say avoid going to MoMa on Fridays in general. The museum was loaded with summer tourists. I did manage to stand a few long, precious seconds before a few of Mr. Bresson's photos but if I were you, I'd go very early during the week if you can. I have this theme going on at work. My desk has a ledge at eye level that is 70% greenery from my two houseplants. It gives me just the amount of privacy I need from passersby yet the open space is plenty for my coworkers and boss to talk w/me through. Using Plants For Privacy | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

Question: Since hot air rises, would it be ok if I ran my bedroom air conditioner as usual and opened the top sash of my window an inch to let the warmer air escape? Or would the opening defeat the purpose of my AC too much? I know this isn't a fan question but any bit of hot air release helps!
