Cute - makes me want to roll on it!

My awful water tank only provides 10 minutes of hot water, so unless I want to freeze, after 10 minutes I have to jump out (a pain on hairwash days).

My decorating dare would be to throw/give away/sell all of my furniture from my tiny studio apartment, and paint the walls and celings white and have very minimal functional furniture (I currently have wenge coloured wood floors, and cream walls with dark red accent walls) - I only chose my current colour scheme to match the furniture I already had when I moved in... also a lot of the furniture is 'from a previous relationship' so for me getting rid of stuff and painting everything white would also be a sort of psychological 'starting over'!

Ditto amed studio... lol!!
I was looking for the perfect owl ornament/lamp/vase for ages but then the moment sort of passed... Living here in Spain, but the time I manage to get hold of fad items they are out of fashion. Then I read somewhere that owls were a bad omen - I'm not usually superstitious - but it did kind of give me the creeps... so no owls for me I think

I've heard about the toliet-germs and toothbrush peril too - really gross!! I now keep the toothbrush closed in a cabinet.

A nice bedside water carafe (Sp?) can also add a special touch to the bedroom - though not sure I'd really use it!

This might look cool if you hadn't actually experienced the 80's... but for me those pastels just bring back terrible memories of the pink and grey colour scheme in my parents old house (pale grey leather sofa against bubbly-textured grey and pink wallpaper), and those awful sort of airbrushed prints of ladies in high heels... eugghh!

I had a stool with a hideous vinyl cover, so I 're-upholstered' with a new but shrunken baby pink lambswool jumper. It looked adorable, but I failed to realise the wool would turn into a bobbly, pilled mess in a matter of weeks due to 'friction' from certain body parts!

This is a bit geeky, but I've collected rocks and stones since I was a kid. Not loads, just a few that mean a lot to me for sentimental reasons (e.g. a fossil sea urchin I found on the beach wit my grandad) - does anyone have any idea how I could display them? At the moment they're in a cluster on a shelf, but they don't look particularly good. Any ideas greatly appeciated.

Excuse my ignorance, but in the States is it common that people don't have washing machines at home? Interesting, here in Spain there are no Laundrettes! I'm pretty lazy and hate ironing, cleaning etc and would happily hire someone to do those chores...but for me putting stuff in a washing machine seems quite easy and I don't mind doing it (but I live alone, so there's not so much washing)... Still, must be lovely having someone do it all for you and it coming back folded:-)

Not sure about the safety, and sorry to play mum, but won't the books get ruined up there? Cooking grease etc? Ok, I guess it's not going to splatter up that high!

Perhaps paint it white like the wall behind the sofa...

I'd say grey (blue would be too seasidey I think). Sounds silly, but if the legs are brown (can't tell from the photo) I'd consider painting them a colour that would blend well with the grey - maybe the same gold as the sofa. The sofa looks sort of veloury from the picture, in which case I'd avoid green walls (for me green and yellow is ok if the sofa was more matte finish or canvass). Good luck!

Back to the question, my weirdest tchotchke are 3 bone white plaster casts of my teeth from when I was growing up. Some people find them a bit disturbing, but I like them-weird I know...

I have a love-hate relationship with my tchotchkes. I love looking at them but someitmes feel like they're dragging me down and have the urge to chuck them all out!
