Made this with plums I had frozen and wanted to use up. Added a small amount of ground cloves, a dash of allspice, some grated orange peel. Simmered it a bit longer (took fruit out so it wouldn't get too mushy) so that it would be thick enough to layer with vanilla pudding and graham crackers. A bit of a trifle!
