The same happened to me. I had a great apartment with a totally crazy roommate and had enough and gave my 30 day notice only to find I had been priced out of the city. I am not willing to go from a large 2 bedroom to a small studio so ended up in Alameda as well. I am constantly keeping an eye on SF, but have not found anything to my liking in 18 months. I can no longer afford anything except a studio in a crappy neighborhood.

I do see their point though. Does their contract allow this family to sublet? In SF legal sublets are almost unheard of and if this is the case it would be grounds for eviction

I come from the world of mass communication and we had it drummed into us that there is no such word as towards. Since the original intent of journalistic writing is to keep things short and concise, and since toward has the same meaning, we were told to always use toward.

For online writing I would suggest to use the AP style (associated press). It has about the strictest rules of any of the writing styles. Just keep in mind if you adhere to it, you will have those who are in favor of the Oxford comma complaining about your writing style.

I may have to consider doing this. In my last apartment it was spelled out in the contract that you could not hookup a washer or dryer. My new apartment doesn't state this, but I agree. i have never seen a bathroom with enough space in the SF bay. My SF apartment had more rrom than my current apartment in Alameda, but I think it would fit better in my kitchen.

Do not buy an Ion turntable. They are very poorly made. Also, unlike a CD a record benefits highly from the equipment. Save and buy a decent turntable (Project makes some nice ones that aren't too expensive) and a decent cartridge (shure and dynavector make some nice inexpensive ones) and you will have much better sound than from the plastic Ion.
