Check out WMF. You can try it at any high-end department store, and the sets (with serving pieces!) are even cheaper online.

Everyday Flatware With a Bit of Flair? Good Questions

I have a Lodge and a Le Crueset enameled (different sizes) which I have treated badly, at least doing everything listed here. Five years later, they're both fine, but the Lodge is a little discolored. Maybe you just got unlucky? The only thing I was careful about was metal utensils.

Depending on what your guests view as kosher, they might not eat anything from your kitchen, so that's worth considering.

I'd make most with the panchetta and milk, and then make the kosher ones using more egg for binding and water/broth instead of milk. I would worry about the chicken drying without the milk, so you might even consider doing beef for the kosher ones, which is also cheaper.

I LOVE the yellow cabinet fronts that you could just paint to sell. That is genius!

I've lived in NYC and San Francisco, and I've never understood the delusional arrogance factor of why you can't possibly move and people/food/weather/beer/museums are so much better here. This is a huge country with so many cheap, livable cities. It's not news NYC and SF are expensive.

@scoot. The seating arrangement will look even worse when that fur is covered in jelly and chocolate syrup.

Underwhelmed. I can't get over those first apartment window treatments. So much potential in such an expensive makeover. Gluing vintage crap to walls is cool, but does not a whole show make.

Oh, having been through this with a toddler, it was no big deal with bottled juice, raisins, bananas, peanut butter, celery (lasted fine a few days), crackers, some muffins I made the day before so the oven heat was long gone, and lots of cookies. The toddler thought the food and the dress code were improvements.

How Do I Prepare My Kitchen for Hurricane Isaac? Good Questions

I'm in Houston, neighbors ALWAYS grill the next day when everyone clears out their freezer. Pork chops, hot dogs, steaks. It's actually really touching and fun. Of course, fill your bathtub and coolers with water. WATER. Especially important with no AC.

At this point, your grocery store will be picked over. Next time, pick up some bread and buns for all the meat you will be grilling and a bunch of non-perishable fresh fruit, like apples and bananas and pears. In Ike, I ate a lot of cereal with no milk, canned pineapple, and peanut butter sandwiches. You probably have enough food to make a really long time, just not the food you want. It will help you clean out your fridge and your pantry!

LOVE! If I were building a house, if I liked wine that much, and if I didn't live in a floodplain, I would totally do this!

Wow, strong opinions.

I have two friends who have developed gluten allergies in their late 20s during this gluten trend. I always buy a bag of tortilla chips and some canned salsa with a gluten free label.

I don't understand how you managed 28 years eating all foods you are now "allergic" to. I mean, I saw you down a 12 pack of cheap beer better than me. I find it irritating, and yes, it has affected my invites.

5 lbs? More like 20 lbs.
I don't get why they got rid of the iconic oval frame, which was critical to the old branding.

I have a couple of large plastic "Lock and Locks." They won't come open, but I would imagine anything plastic would break with 5+ lbs onto tile.

I have OXO Pops, and they don't come open, but they can sometimes (but not always!) crack when they hit tile. They would probably be OK falling onto a counter or not so far.

They are better looking than most solutions, and you could probably configure them so the cat couldn't get on the shelf anymore.

Tale as old time. I got worse and worse for us as he got busier and more stressful responsibility, and I was down to something like 10% of the household income and working full time.

But, making more money let us get a maid (YAY!) who saved our marriage. You'd be surprised how many of your neighbor ladies would love a few bucks to clean your house. You might even be able to work out a swap arrangement for cooking.

Colored tile. Nobody wants to buy some nasty old plexiglassed wallpaper. Just put in some tile. You're going to have to deal with this when you sell anyway, so why not just tile now?

At least your buyer will know how to get rid of (or tile over) neon pink tile. They won't have any idea how to chisel off lacquered your wallpaper.
