I wanted to thank you for this wonderful site--all the great ideas we get and all the fun we have with it. My question is: If you were left stranded in a desert island (pirate style penalty) and you could only get three things to eat (besides water), which would they be? (i.e. avocado, bread, olive oil) And why? Merry Christmas! We Want To Thank You. What Do You Want To Ask Us??? 2012 Holiday Party |

I will definitely look for the book. Another one about rivers...if not so much about cabins. I love it--it was made a movie and that is probably how many will remember it: Try "A river runs through it and other stories" by Norman Mclean. You will love the words picturing nature in Montana and the poetry. It has been likened to the writings of Thureau and Hemingway. A brief: "Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of those rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters." My Literary Dream Home: The River Why |

It is a matter of what you both like but the room definitely needs something bright to make it come alive--too many dark hues there. Although my favorite color is blue, I would go for the red and gold (or yellow) and it could even have some blue on it as suggested by Babyfishmouth. This way you will both use your colors. But do not go for cream/grey--your room needs life on it! You can also tryi adding some pillows that go with the rug colors. Good luck and enjoy your apartment! I love white too! If I had this place, I would use (my present furniture) white sofa, white chairs on black--in your case better brown--wood (or just white chairs) to which you can add accents of your (other) favorite color. You can also cover a whole wall with a white flowing, light, curtain--nothing heave (I added some tiny led lighting to the top of mine--just keep it discreet--which I turn on at night). Add some beautiful plants in the corners, one or two standing lamps (white or your other accent color). And, depending on your budget, you do not have to go expensive: Ikea furniture, discount stores for the lamps and curtains. It will look great! Your space is really nice. Enjoy it!! Agree with Keira. It's a beautiful apartment, space very well utilized, modern, and the painted wall is a great resource both visually and practical. But it's missing a sign of human life...Accolades, however. Great job. Elizabeth's Painted Wall Small Cool Contest |

For TM444-Many of us at some point in our lives have had to deal with depression, big problems, or very hard moments in life. I am not the exception. But, yes, as Ellabee expressed, it is possible to emerge from the depths of despair. Sometimes what we take for rejection is more in our minds than in reality. I admire your courage to express your thoughts. You are also very articulate, intelligent, and have great ideas, by what can be read in your previous comments. Do not despair. Rise. You have the power and the mind to do it. Reach out. Wish you the best. Melting the Walls & Opening Up to Love Weekend Meditation |

Agree with the bathroom issue. The home looks great and practical. Support the eco friendly and energy saving model. We should have more of these. I think we all will have different experiences with Ikea, as with other stores. My experience has been very good so far. I bought living room furniture and some organizers as well as kitchen items. It was very easy to assemble (I did it myself--53 yo female), the quality is good, furniture is comfortable, my friends liked the living a lot, and the chair cover was so easy to clean when someone spilled coffee on its white surface, I was surprised. Have to give Ikea a 10. Buy an Entire House from IKEA: Aktiv |

Good taste and originality. Love the art, love the library, love the red accents bringing that splash of color. Definitely a different turn from others I have seen in AT. I love the garden/terrace. And I love the dogs! Well done and a good reflection of the owner's independent and creative character. Congratulations! Julie's Witty & Whimsical 'Artsy Nerd' Home Tech Tour |
