I think the motion sensor sprinkler might be a little better than the light. You can get them at hardware stores to keep raccoons from rolling up your new sod.

I don't understand why the spout is so high. There is going to be a bunch of liquid in the bottom that will require some maneuvering to get out.

Last weekend I made ice-cream using pressed cottage cheese (this product, I don't know if you can get it in the US http://www.westerncreamery.com/en/products.html), sour cream and cream, based on the cheesecake ice-cream recipe in David Lebovitz I have a similar machine and it turned out well.

The other recipe I find that turns out well with this type of machine is 600g of fruit, 1 cup of heavy cream and 2/3 cup of sugar, blended together like a smoothy.

I wouldn't put these containers directly from the freezer into a hot oven. The thermal shock could break them even if the website claims otherwise.

My father grew up on a dairy farm. As a I child I would drink raw milk when I visited my grandmother. I didn't find it particularly different from regular milk. Mostly I noticed it was thicker because it was whole milk.

I eat frozen salmon and it is pretty nice - especially for a weeknight.

My parents have the stove pictured. They used the grill a few times, but ended up taking it out and putting in extra burners - additionally switching between burners and the grill element is not the easy-peasy exercise the promotional material would have you believe. The grill is hard to clean. The fat drips down into some funny little compartment accessible from the oven. Then obviously, there is a lot of smoke from grilling indoors.

This is a weird list. Although, my father does have the Peugeot pepper mill and has never had a problem with it.

Baking soda? That's what I use to clean my enamel pots and enamel is similar to glass.

I just put a heap of the baking soda on the offending area and scrub with a damp cloth.

If I zest the lemon and don't need the juice for the recipe I just put the lemon in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep it from drying out. It works okay if you use the lemon in the next couple of days.

Hands down I am trying the risotto - as soon as I get to the market to get some asparagus.

I love the minimalist movies. I have had some risotto disasters before. But I am hoping now that I have seen the little movie I will be able to make it.

I cook for only myself about 1/2 the time. (The other half my boyfriend comes over, I eat out, or I go to my parents.) I think the best part about cooking for 1 is I feel I can experiment without forcing anyone else to eat my duds and I can eat whatever I feel like.

Cream cheese and red pepper make a good veggie sandwich.

If you like to have pasta with sauce, I think you will need two large pots. I have a dutch over I make my pasta sauce in. But no other large pot to make pasta in so I am always crowding my noodles.

This roaster would probably be good for making scalloped potatoes or cabbage rolls for a crowd too. And Nigella is always tossing a bunch of chicken bits and sausage into pans like that on her TV show.

I think using something like this once or twice a month seems okay. It seems like a pretty versatile pan and I would love to have something like it.
