I just wanted to throw in here that I have an app called "Home Library" - it was $0.99 and so, so worth it. I use it for our huge DVD collection, but it also categorizes books. You simply use your camera to scan the ISBN and it enters the book details into the library. It's an extremely easy way to catalogue books for on the fly reference, and you can tag them based on where you put them (for instance, if you decide to use a unique organizing system, such as color, you could tag books within the app by "red" "orange" etc)

Perfect! I'm going to put some on the bottom of my kitten's not-non-skid bowls, and maybe they'll stop toppling off the counter (straight into the dog's waiting mouth).

This one from Overstock has built in storage, which could house extra blankets and pillows, and if you like the look of the headboard on the wall, it wouldn't be difficult to find an inexpensive upholstered headboard (or make one yourselves - check out www.ikeahackers.net) from Overstock, Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.

I was just looking at the perfect fit for your room the other day, and of course can't find the image now. Basically their Kvartal system is an inexpensive, simplistic track system that can go around corners, lending a continuity to corner windows. Additionally, you can put tracks on the floor and use their panel curtains for a more modern or streamlined look.
