Label everything in the freezer - our Sharpie lives in the cutlery drawer. Cleaning supplies under each sink. Small suitcases get stacked inside larger suitcases, duffle bags and bulky ski gear get stuffed inside those to make a compact package. Refrigerator floor plan too. Basic rule is, put something with like things, find it a home, or we don't need it.

Does anyone else use the shared iPhone lists? I can add something to the grocery or warehouse store list, and it automatically is shared with The Boy. So whoever goes to the store first doesn't forget to take the list with them or need to ask if the other needs to add anything - it's all right there. We also use it to keep track of new restaurants or activities to try, so when we have a date night we don't get stuck in the same old rut.

Here in Texas, we have small BBQ joints practically around every corner. Try some smoked sausage from some place like that, plus some good crackers and cheese like others suggest.

Furniture that is too low. I like the look of MCM furniture but so much of it is too low to the ground for tall people. I don't want to need a cane to lift myself off a low couch or platform bed.

I'm a records manager, and here's what we recommend in general for holding onto personal records (note - these timelines may vary depending on your needs/industry/etc.):
-- Birth, marriage, or death certificate; adoption or custody papers; citizenship papers; divorce or separation papers; property settlement agreements; will; military papers; passports; social security card; diplomas and transcripts: keep permanently
-- Real property deeds, title papers, abstracts, mortgage and other lien documents: duration of ownership + 10 years, provided any action relating to legal matters pertaining the property has been completed
-- Burial lot deed; tax assessment notices, purchase contracts or records of capital improvements; motor vehicle titles, purchase receipts, licenses and registration: duration of ownership
-- Stocks, bonds and other securities: duration of ownership provided taxes due or losses claimed have been calculated and reported to the IRS
-- Bank statements and cancelled checks: 3 years, but check with your banking institution about their policy on how long they retain electronic copies of statements and cancelled checks
-- Insurance policies and records of claims made: permanent or until superseded (IMO, these should be permanent)
-- Tax records: 7 years
-- Medical insurance: 5 years from date of service
-- Warranty documents: life of object
-- Home repair bills and contracts: 10 years
-- Pay stubs: keep last statement; an annual statement should be retained with tax records for 7 years
-- Credit card statements: Most current 3 months unless used for documentation of deductions for tax purposes, and those should be retained with the tax records for 7 years
-- ATM receipts: until verified on the bank statement
-- Utility bills: most recent 3 months. Recommendation is to retain an updated list of your utility history, rental history, etc. for reference purposes.

Wash right after using with the hottest water you can stand and plenty of soap on both sides to avoid warp. Rinse thoroughly. Allow to dry fully before storage. Monthly I use Three BEEautiful Bees - rub in with an old towel rag until it's fully absorbed, as stated in article. I also do this with my olivewood mortar & pestle and they look great.

Kosher is the standard, but also have sea salt and table salt on hand. Loved the smoked alderwood salt as a present earlier this year, and intend to try truffle salt soon.
