A highly individual question! I'm of the paleo/ancestral mindset so for me, healthy = protein + veggies. Usually I bring a lunch that includes protein, a sweet potato, and leafy greens; on the rare occasions that I eat in a restaurant, it's usually the same minus the sweet potato (so hard to find in any form other than fried!). Unlike the majority of my sandwich-eating colleagues, my lunch does not leave me starving at 3pm and flocking to the vending machines - but it took me years to find what works for *me*.

I live within walking distance of three WF markets. While as a corporation they are far from perfect, as a dairy-allergic celiac I will always appreciate WF for being food-intolerance-aware and going the extra mile to provide ingredient info for their prepared foods - it's just about the only ready-made takeout I can trust, and that to me is worth any extra cost. As others have mentioned, the 365 brand items are usually reasonably priced - two of my staples, almond butter and coconut oil, are the same price as Trader Joe's (and unlike TJ's, always in stock). Other items leave me baffled at the markup - why are the same eggs at WF a buck and a half more than at TJ's? So, I keep two lists and hit both stores in the same shopping trip - and feel very lucky that I have this option in my city.

You are so smart to ask this before buying sight unseen. I own one piece of West Elm furniture, the (unfortunately, no longer made) Jay Desk, and assumed that all of their products would be of equal high quality. Sadly, not so - I fell in love with their Tripod Table online, but happened to have a chance to check it out in the store before buying it and was really disappointed. I'd put it a notch *below* IKEA quality. So, like most chain retailers - I've concluded that West Elm is terribly inconsistent.

I have to laugh at the comments about the ladder being an issue. I've lived for almost five years in a bit more space - 280 square feet - and I sleep in a loft with a ladder. I'm almost fifty - probably a lot older than some of you kids! - I have horrible vision, and had a medical condition at one point that limited muscle movement and I have NEVER had an issue with the climbing up and down - I like to think the ladder keeps me mobile and uses muscles that I wouldn't otherwise use :)

Living alone (usually with a cat) and child-free by choice, I've always opted for small spaces - the smaller, the better, since I don't like owning a lot of things and I'm not fond of housekeeping at all. Many of the guidelines above are just second-nature to me. I love the Tumbleweed homes - I really don't think living in one would be problematic at all since they are so well-designed.
