this house is amazing. I love how the art and furnishings integrate so wonderfully to create a happy atmosphere. Love the colors and textures against the stark white walls...

whoa, you guys are great! Thanks so much for all the fantastic advice! So far, I agree that I NEED to get those Crestview doors (love the 'Grover' and the 'Pasadena'). A different mailbox, exterior light and brushed silvery address letters are also great ideas. I am working on the landscaping and really like the idea of putting some pavers, a couple cool boulders and some gravel around with low profiled shrubs, etc. I think all those things will make it look waaaay better. The windows are a big ticket item that will have to wait until I have the budget, but I am torn about getting newer aluminum windows or vinyl. There is a lot of conjecture about how much less efficient aluminum is. The worst thing about the aluminum is that they are so sweaty on the insides of the windows. I do agree with some people that the aluminum has a cleaner and more 'streamlined' look to fit with this style of ranch.

Oh, and one last thing, I had to put a new roof on this house so we went with a charcoal gray metal roof, which I like.

Thanks sooo much for all your great comments! Have a happy New Year everyobody!

I just bought this stuff and created a window shade with it that attaches with velcro to the window sill. Seems to work fairly well as the space between the window and the insulated shade is much colder than the indoor room temp. I also have that plastic insulation on other windows and that works well too.
