Beautiful. Full of personality and totally original. I love the kitchen, especially the wallpaper. You also have so many lovely pieces - lights, mirrors etc. It's so refreshing to see a house like this on AT.

I love the dining area, though I'd probably paint the ceiling in the same dark colour & then you would not notice the boxed-in RSJ. I found the rest too cold. I think the main area could do with a warmer colour on the walls. I love your dining chairs too.

I've seen this house before - Livingetc? I love the herringbone tiling. The brass bathroom fittings remind me of Jenna Crew's old house - definitely something I'd want, if I was re-doing a bathroom. I think I'd change the ladder in the kitchen for a fireman's pole - that'd definitely go down well at parties!

The blue jug is my favourite thing in the whole house.

I really like the dining area best. Love the colour on the walls and the painting. I like the light fitting as well & totally agree that one shouldn't give a monkeys as to whether or not something is passe. If you like it, that's all that matters.

I agree, though, that the title is misleading. Sticking a crib in the bedroom (especially one that sounds like it has been retrieved from a dustbin!) is not really preparing for the arrival of a baby. Sacrificing loads of storage is probably the first thing that's needed. I also think the mobile is lovely to look at, but won't really stimulate a baby. Strong black & white contrasts are supposed to work best.

It looks like a lovely airy flat, though and you seem to have the style and practicality to make it a welcoming home for your new arrival. Good luck.

The antique leather chair looks shiny in the photo too. Presumably that offends your sensibilities as well? What I find annoying is your arrogance. It's ok to say you don't like something. Anyone who puts their home on this website is opening their style choices up to constructive criticism. To tell someone " Please lose the shiny table covering....." is simply rude.

'mosaicwench'

- the oiled cloth on the dining table is traditional. It only looks so shiny, I imagine, because of the camera's flash. As they have a toddler and a baby, perhaps you might permit them not to 'lose' it.

Love the area in photo 12. (Not sure which room it is.) Great use of colour. The main area is too bland for me, with all that white & beige. Love the pink chair too.

At least she can multi-task. She's presenting the quiche and suffocating her son at the same time.

I agree with tkj re the rugs and think it could do with the furniture being pulled away from the walls. Love the space though.

Did Lyonstill say something really offensive? Lots of people 'agree' with him/her, but I have no idea what they are agreeing with!

What an amazing space. My favourite area by far is the kitchen. I would like to see maybe a screen or two to break up the vastness of the rest & would prefer the bedroom to be totally enclosed. That said all the beautiful pieces really fill the place with character & I can just imagine the cold winter evenings curled up in front of the woodburner with a hot toddy & an old black & white film on the telly.

I subscribe to Livingetc & am looking forward to it dropping through the letterbox to see more. you have exquisite taste.

I was feeling really under the weather with a horrible summer cold and then I saw your home. I think I am almost cured. It is so gorgeous. I think the colour combo in your bedroom is stunning. I love the clash of the mustard and fuschia, together with the .mid-grey. I have no idea who Martyn Lawrence Bullard is, but if you learned lots from him, he must be the dogs whatsits as well.

I think the walls could do with a shot of colour to make it more cosy. It looks really chilly. Also agree that the furniture should be closer together. It actually feels like an estate sale waiting to happen.

I don't get why people feel they can speak for a whole country when they describe their habits. -MRS ELLIOTT -"The duvet cover, sheet, and pillowcases get changed and laundered every 2 weeks. I also have padded pillowcase protectors and a quilted mattress topper that get laundered a couple of times a year. I think that is pretty much standard here in Blighty."
I change the bed linen every week. I'm sure plenty of others do. The mattress/pillow protectors get washed at the same time. Otherwise you are putting clean on top of used. Not suggesting for one minute that you're a grubby, but each to their own. ;-)

DESIGNGRATISLONDON -The plant in the corner is a Swiss Cheese Plant.

Love the turquoise & the way the bed area is separated. Looks so much better than many studios where you can't get away from the bed in the room....

Adorably bonkers! Good on you Max for living with what you love. All those beautiful individual pieces and someone focuses in on a broom? If homes reflect their owners then you must be great fun. Such a change from the overload of MCM-filled and/or 'artfully curated' run-of-the-mill places that feature so much on AT.

I used to live in an Edwardian maisonette. Strictly speaking, it should be purpose built and have a private entrance not a shared entrance hall. A converted flat would usually have a shared main front door, unless it was the basement flat.

I agree it's a disappointing tour for an 'interior designer'.

I found this really disappointing. it just seemed like an advert for cushions. Agree with those who comment on the lack of character. It could be a new-build. The only interesting picture for me was of the street outside.
