I'd know that hidden fold-down table anywhere, even with your desk in front of it. I used to live in that building! You've done a lot more with that space than I did. Well done, Leah.

Where's the heat coming from in this room? Everywhere I've lived has had radiators right under all the windows. Is everyone just positioning their beds in front of the radiators?

Yeah I find it hard to imagine this ever working with carpet. It's got to be on wood for the textural contrast.

I'd love to put my bed on the floor but I'm repulsed by bugs. Do mattresses on the floor get more frequent infestations?

This appeals to me so much this time of year. Enjoying natural light makes me feel so much better about my day.

The piano was always our family's go-to stocking station without a fireplace. Didn't look that tidy, though! :)

"The bottom line is, I'm not assertive enough to share a space, so I will never do it again."

This is totally key. I could never share spaces because I'm not an assertive enough person either. I figure if you're more assertive, you probably have a better chance of making things work!

Except for the crazy wife-beaters and naked people, though, that's pretty much impossible to deal with.

What a genius idea, framing doilies and placemats like that! I am soooo stealing this.

Fresh air and sunlight naturally keep fabrics and homes feeling fresh and clean. You can smell it when you walk into a home that doesn't have windows open often. Yuck! Fresh air please!

Gorgeous curtains for gorgeous windows. Good layout, doesn't feel too cramped. Effective limited use of colour. This is what Small Cool is all about

This is really interesting for me as I am about to move into a similarly not-that-bad-but-somewhat-unsafe neighborhood. Good tip on the GPS thing, I never would have thought of that.

I universally forget at least one thing before I leave. I always hated it when my mother would ask me, "Now, what are you forgetting!" Ma, if I knew that, I wouldn't be forgetting it, would I? :P

Anyway, I've seen those doorganizers in stores, I might pick one up. Of course, as you say, the trick is remembering to put things in it...

Did you choose contact paper because it would leave sharper lines than simply taping the design before painting?
