Another vote for paint and reupholster! Canary yellow or robin's egg blue if they can coordinate with the rest of the space. But if you want to skip the painting, a nice graphic black and white fabric for the seat could be nice. Maybe check the shower curtain section... some great patterns and durable fabrics there.
