Four is wonderful age to get comfortable with a needle and thread. Embroidery is a great way to start. I wrote about it right here:

Thanks for the nice feedback! I haven't tried ironing it, but the fold marks loosen up within a day or two and disappear. I photographed these the instant they went up...

Cat? Yes, I do. He's not interested, luckily!

I use salvaged coffee sacks from my local coffee roaster. They are often only a dollar or two... sometimes even free! I shared directions in the pattern for how to deconstruct the sacks. Have fun!

Thanks, all! My mother's home was technically a barn before it was converted into living space and studio. It still looks like one on the outside!
Art: the frame was bought at an auction and we had it fitted with a mirror at a glass shop. Simple and fairly reasonable price-wise. They even installed sturdy hardware for hanging.

Before motherhood I was a toddler teacher (among many things). We used a similar changing table in our classrooms. The steps/ladder were phenomenal way to invite cooperation and create autonomy around an activity (diaper changing) that young children have no control over and usually struggle with.

Funny timing...I just returned from my three year old's first dentist appointment. Our dentist recommends parents "helping" their child brush until they are 8 years old! I have a nine year old, as well, and we didn't assist that long (he would never have stood for it!), but we did supervise for a long time and still use a timer. No cavities, so far!

Thanks for the great feedback! Noemi really loves spending time in her room. For more info and pictures, please visit my blog:
We were very fortunate to inherit her wonderful toddler bed from a our friend, a great DIYer. It's a simple, but very satisfying design. A crib mattress graduates into the frame with a perfect fit. She can't roll out because the walls of the frame rise several inches above the mattress, but the base is only a few inches off the she can climb right in!

I like the idea of utilizing space under the bed, but it seems like it might be challenging for a young child to pull out the trundle/storage indpendently.
