I love the vibe of this too! Cozy and clean. :)

Curious about the size classifications too - 900 SF is big for an apartment, but for a house it's pretty small! Our house is not much bigger than that and we are a family of 4 + dog!

Appreciating all the helpful comments on here too as I have a teak credenza that I plucked off of someone's porch after it sat there for 2-3 years. It has some of the same ailments that the OP's credenza has, but it's also missing a sliding door handle. What can remove the mold (blackish stains) and what can I do about the missing handle? I think once I fix it up, it will look so much better than it does now, but the various chips on corners and the handle aren't really fixable, right? You can see it in this photo here:

I love this home! It's so refreshing to see a small family home where you are essentially making do with what you've got rather than doing major reno work. We live in a small home too with 1 little bathroom for 4 and I have a tween and a teen (both girls)! Thanks for the inspiration.

What a fabulous home! Our first home is also about 1300-1400 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom for 4. I should stop complaining about how small it is and start making it feel like a home like this one!

I bought a dining set consisting of items from several companies - a John Mortensen rosewood pedestal table with 2 leaves, a Johannes Andersen chair, and 3 unknown maker chairs from Moreddi for $100.

Huge improvement! Maybe not very personalized, but that's easy to fix. The shape of the artwork and the mirrors doubled the room's size!

Can you keep them at room temp in an airtight container for up to a week or should they be refrigerated?

I love this house! The painted doors throughout are a great way to add those pops of color to a pretty neutral base without painting a whole room. I had to laugh, though, when I read "featuring a large dining table made from an old door" because before I read that, I saw the photo first of the owners sitting at said table and I thought to myself, "wow, that table is way too small for them."

Lovely, comfy home! I just love the gray with the orangey-yellow door. At first I thought it was the same colour as our own door (BM's Citrus Blast but matched in Behr because BM would not give the same colour in exterior paint!). You've been able to do wonders in what most people would consider a small home!

I agree with all the posts about where else would you put display personal photos but your own home?? I love looking at photos when I go over to friends' houses. I'd be less hesitant to display them in an office outside the home, though. I feel a little weird displaying them in the master bedroom, maybe a little in the bathroom, but in a hallway? An empty wall in the living room or entryway? Why not? :)

I too try to bring something homemade that will suit everyone - usually a salad, some baked good or a fruit salad. I have a friend who throws only potlucks - including her most recent birthday luncheon potluck. Surely that was a breach of some sort of potluck etiquette, especially when she only provided the drinks, deviled eggs and birthday cake - for lunch! Only 1 friend brought anything resembling a main dish - cold cuts because she had thought to ask me if our hostess friend was providing any burgers or hot dogs or other main dish sort of thing - a life saver because almost everyone there came with kids. Everyone else brought salads, bread and fruit. Same friend asked me if she could cook her steak dish at my house for a potluck I threw the other day, lol. I told her that we were using the oven for other things so she should cook it at home. Love her dearly, but we clearly subscribe to different branches of potluck etiquette.

I really don't have any hard and fast potluck rules - luckily most of my friends ask me for suggestions beforehand and so I will suggest a certain type of dish (ex. salad, dessert, finger food, dip, whatever) to each one so that I can make sure that we will have a variety of options with the knowledge that I will be providing the dishes that could be considered main dishes.

Late to the party here, but I just found this post. We actually threw a housewarming party the week before this was posted back in '11! They still happen around here where we live and no one brought us anything other than plants and candles which we were happy to receive. We didn't expect anything, we provided all of the food though we did have people bring their own alcoholic beverages to supplement the beer and wine we would have, and all those people in our house raised the temp in our house by at least 10 degrees!

I didn't feel comfortable making it a potluck because we felt we were so fortunate to have finally bought our own house that we wanted to thank our friends who helped us get here. That said, several friends seemed to feel naked coming to the party empty-handed so they asked to bring things and we were fine with that.

Thank you!

I did more sleuthing and also pored over the pieces with extra pairs of eyes and finally found some marks on them.

-The chair in the bottom picture is by Johannes Andersen for Moreddi.
-The table has the labels, Domus Danica and Heltborg Mobler and I think it's by John Mortensen.
-The other chairs are also imported by Moreddi, but I still can't figure out the designer.

Lovely home! I'm curious as to how the contact-paper-covered counters have held up - we have similar counters and new ones are not in the budget right now!
