I've been enjoying sazeracs lately - the original cocktail. Good rye whiskey, absinthe coated glass, simple syrup, Peychaud's bitters, twist of lemon peel. Unassuming, yet somehow sophisticated.

I like skins in my mashed potatoes - they add taste, texture, and nutrients too.

White pepper is a nice addition. A slightly different flavor than black and the color is more harmonious.

I don't know if the Primanti sandwich qualifies as a regional sandwich. It's basically a creation of one particular restaurant in Pittsburgh, right? Nitpicking, I know..

Is there a noticeable difference between chicken cooked in the oven vs in the slow cooker? I have a slow cooker, but given that this recipe starts in the dutch oven, it seems easier to just throw the whole thing in the oven. Unless the slow cooker produces better results, that is.

I've had a kettle for the past several years that I've loved, but I recently got a new Cuisinart model as a gift. The nice thing about this one is that it allows you to set the temperature of the water. This is great if you make beverages that benefit from lower-than-boiling temperatures like oolong tea, green tea, yerba mate, etc.
