The lamp and table are okay, it's the rest of that room that is freaking me out. Align your furniture with the windows... not half and half. Go with one shade of bedding. Get those books off the floor. What is the point of worrying about the lamp and table? Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Does this Nightstand / Lamp Combo Work? |

I am confused by this whole 'don't paint your bricks' thing. Does that mean that all those houses with painted brick exteriors are going to start falling down? Every 100 year old house on Capitol Hill in DC is painted brick. What is the difference? Is it okay to paint if you use exterior paint? Anyone? Good Questions: How To Whitewash My Brick Wall? |

Anyone know much about how/where to plug all those lights in? Is a surge protector enough? Can you use CFL bulbs? Good creative opportunity, just don't want to blow up the house. Thanks! Close-Up: Hanging on Your Own |

Studies show that the color "Yellow can create feelings of frustration and anger. While it is considered a cheerful color, people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms." I would cry too. I likes the rest of the apartment! On second look, that rolled up thing under the couch would drive me bananas! What is it? The room divider feels a little too 'west virgengineered' for me and looks like it would topple over with one little door slam. Finally, if you are going to be creative and enter your apartment in a contest with the word 'coolest' in the name, please, for the love of god, come up with a 'cool' laundry hamper... or don't photograph it. When I had a railroad I turned the bed 90 degrees and centered it on the wall, so that the foot was at the 'invisible' hall line. We built and hung a framed scrim-like screen panel from the ceiling to create a semi-hall. It worked great for making the bed area a little bit private and still let in the light. There may be a creative solution in there for you. #40 - Rachel's TeRRific RailRoad |

I agree with thinking about grouping some of the objects in your nice apartment. It seems you have your "things" spread evenly over the entire apartment, and they all seem to be about the same scale. Another suggestion is separating the stacked ovals from the Ikea chest. I always find it weird to have two different storage units right next to each other. Maybe something needs to be moved towards the center of the room to act as a coffee table? I like your art and agree with moving the cool white one down a little! And I agree with PToo about the curtains... no need! #25 - Thomas' Itsy Bitsy Box |
