This is a far better review:

http://unclutterer.com/2010/06/02/unitasker-wednesday-zoku-quick-pop-maker/

This appliance makes three (yes, THREE!) pops at a time in less than 10 minutes, and it costs $50. Like most newer model ice cream makers, the shell of the Zoku Quick-Pop Maker has to live in your freezer until you’re ready to use it, otherwise it takes more than two hours to freeze the shell first. In the end, it might take you more time to use this device (if the shell isn’t already frozen), about $40 more, takes up a good chunk of storage space, and makes considerably fewer ice pops than traditional methods. Maybe there are ice pop emergencies I’m not aware of that this device is perfect for solving? Or … maybe not.

My cell phone is the best alarm clock there is. It's always with me. It always displays the correct time because it's synched with a cell tower. Why buy more crap to do work that my cellphone already does? Think green.

Love it. It's an extreme exercise in restraint. It's a beautiful space with beautiful views and to be able to live this simply is a major accomplishment. Yay!

AP's consumption-addled writers often miss the point with these sorts of thoughts. One lesson from these fires is that consumer cruft is ephemeral and we could all do with less of it.

"Where does the liberated twenty-first century minimalist keep their clothing, shoes, hats, umbrellas, linens, brooms, and the like? (or, perhaps these old-fashioned conventions are for hopeless squares...)"

A minimalist goes nude. =) But seriously, most of that stuff is not necessary, at least not to the extent that the average person tends to accumulate that stuff.

Tremendous vision. Nice work. I'd love to cut my square footage to 100 SF. Very nice.

Did I just stumble into SquirrelTherapy.com? This has nothing to do with apartments.

Love it!

Someone wrote, "where's the closet space?"

Closets are for hoarders. This couple is living a more minimalist lifestyle. But I bet that there are closets on the level below the raised area that the bedroom faces.

Someone else wrote, "This would really freak me out....thoughts of the whole contraption falling onto the floor below would keep me up at night."

Ridiculous. Engineering can be trusted to create stable platforms above the ground. I wonder if this person never sleeps on any platform that doesn't sit on rock-solid earth?

"What if there was no back wall, and it was, like, a "open" cube?"

Good thinking. Perhaps the cube could open (the closed side could swing up or out). Perhaps the backside could be faced with electrostatic glass sthat coud be turned opaque with a switch? Perhaps a simple roller shade or series of curtains could be employed for extra privacy/darkness.

The space is beautiful. Furniture would only clutter it up. There's enough here for the folks that use it. Love the restraint and the dedication that this demonstrates. I would love to live here.

I love this. Apartment Therapy is too often about "knick knacks to buy for your house." This post captures the true spirit of what Apartment Therapy once was (and could be again).

how about this suggestion: don't start a library. libraries are anachronisms in this internet-connected age. they're also bad for the environment. that said, i've already GOT a library and ditching certain books is tough.

My rules:
* don't buy stuff
* actively give away or sell possessions until they number 100 or fewer

Impossible, but a worthy lifelong project.

Putting the punchline AFTER forcing a clickthrough makes this a particularly bad post. No need to break this one into two.

I live in a loft with no closets. Have become a rabid minimalist. With this shift, comes a simultaneous need to shift in my behavior as a consumer. It's been a five-year transition, but I'm getting better and better at it. The rewards are huge.

This is excellent. With today's shoddily constructed buildings that lack good insulation between apartments, this is the only way to go.
