We do a lot of whole wheat bread, often cinnamon raisin or blueberry. She also loves popovers. Waffles and pancakes can also be made with a wide variety of flours.
We haven't done pasta yet, but plan on it soon.

If you are looking for more on Riesling you might want to check out Terry Theise's Reading Between the Wines which was one of Sara Kate's summer reading suggestions. Terry's one of the best-regarded importers of German and Austrian wines, along with grower Champagnes.

I would say that the quality of the jars is not high enough to use them to can. I would expect breakage and seal issues.
