@Daigan- I'm a buyer here in SF, and unfortunately Golden Star went out of business last year. We haven't been able to find anything quite like it!

Ideas for Fun Non-Alcoholic Party Drinks?
Dinner Party Questions

Hi everyone- Allison & Ian here!

Firstly, thanks for all of your wonderful comments. We're just returning from a vacation and are overwhelmed with the enormous amount of suggestions that we've received! We'll be reading through them all and commenting on them as we slowly piece together the ideas and formulate a plan for the room.

A few brief comments for those who have asked questions:

1. The pear print is by an artist named Heather Amuny-Dey - I love it!

2. The table is by a french company named Fermob, and the chairs are from Crate & Barrel.

3. We have our couch in the window because there's essentially no other place for it in the room; the radiator and built-in don't allow it to be on that wall, and when it's along the other wall it makes the room much too narrow. The other wall (opposite the windows) has two doors in it, leading to an old murphy bed closet (which we use) so we can't have the couch in front of the doors.

Also, just to clarify- we have no intention of painting the trim, picture rail, or built-in; those questions were added by apartment therapy. We actually are in a rental space so painting those items are out of the question for us!

We can't wait to show you what we decide to do!

Man oh man. San Francisco, hands down. I could be biased, because I work in the food industry here...

Hmm... I made these awhile back from Heidi's site and have to say that I was so disappointed that I didn't serve them at my party as planned. While the chocolaty-coffee flavor was lovely (and no hint of black beans), they were so flat and thin, (see the last picture in the post) and were an odd consistency- crumbly yet fudgey. My boyfriend, who will eat anything chocolate, let them sit in the fridge for a week before we finally had to throw them out. It was a bummer!

While they may seem frivolous, these Lars Onions are delicious! Perfect for burgers, salads, on top of soups, etc. Once I buy a can they don't last long! They're also sold at Bi-Rite Market in San Francisco.

Hmmm I just made this recipe with the same changes that Ewhitish did, and I found the soup lacking the depth of flavor that traditional pho has. Or that could be that I'm sick and my sense of smell/taste is off, but still... I had higher expectations! I'll give it another shot when I'm not so congested.

funny, never make chili as a go-to meal. Our is fish tacos with black beans and a non-mayo cabbage slaw. Yum!

Spanish olive oils tend to be fruitier than Italian or Californian olive oils. I love Merula, Zoe, or Unio olive oil.

Yum! Bi-Rite Market on 18th Street carries all of these products, except for the Drinkwell Sodas. I loooooove the INNA Plum Jam.

these are cute, but i believe they're photographed flat. I think it would be difficult for them to properly sit in a vase, but perhaps I just have to make one myself to find out!

My boyfriend & I just moved into an apartment that has a kitchen with almost no prep space. We also purchased the Ikea VARDE base cabinet and it has totally transformed our space. Highly recommended- absolutely the most sturdy & best piece that we've ever purchased from ikea!

Hi Brian! I make a great low-fat greek yogurt dip. The key for me is using either the fat-free or the 2% FAGE brand yogurt. I find it really rich and creamy without the fat.

Anyway- I do a combination of the following ingredients- the proportions can vary depending on what you like.

-Lemon Juice
-minced garlic
-fresh dill
-fresh flat leaf parsley

It it reminiscent of the greek flavors of tzatziki. Enjoy!

Our house is completely paper towel free, and when we cook bacon we drain it on a brown paper bag. We try to use reusable bags when shopping, but of course we forget every once in awhile so always tend to have a brown bag on hand. Once it's soaked in the bacon grease it goes into the compost!
