How sturdy is the box? You could cover it in fabric and place it where a headboard would be or what I did with some boxes in my first tiny apartment put them behind the couch, like a console table. It's "stored" and you can use the top to store or display other things. Best Apartment Storage For Christmas Tree? Good Questions |

Even if it is an antique sometimes you need to "ruin the integrity of the piece". If you cringe at the sight of it and it's so ugly you refuse to use it in any of your rooms, DYI it or pass it on to someone else.
