I recently splurged on an amazing simplehuman compost pail. We live in rural area where no garbage pick up is available, (mostly due to the wildlife in the area) so it's important to have a solid compost pail that doesn't smell and is easily transportable by car (ie - doesn't tip over or the lid falls off mid-garbage trip!)

We have a moderate sized compost bin, a large bin for plastics & a small garbage bin. We live in an area with no garbage pickup; thus sorting things at home is must. It's only a 15 minute drive to drop off garbage, but nothing worse than un-sorted stinky mess in your car! We keep a reusable grocery bag by the front door for everything else, like cardboard, cans, bottles, etc & bring it with us daily when we stop by the grocery.

My husband & I got married last year - the best gift(s) we got was cash. We put a ton towards a honeymoon, and the rest towards a mortgage. These days, most couples (huge generalization, I now) have already lived together for some time before getting married. Candles & vases are NOT NEEDED.

However, I would have to say our 'favourite' gift was a Dyson. A must for living with a husky.

It really depends on the event. We sent out New Years Eve party invites in November, mostly becuase we live in a rural area and it gives guests time to plan if they can come, becuase it involves an overnight stay & at least 2 hours travel.
