Dear Emily,
I love your style & your show. However... once you have toddlers you will realize that chalkboards are a HUGE MESS that you will NOT want inside your house... (That's why there are sidewalks & sidewalk chalk.)
I have twin 2-yr. olds, and I hardly have time to clean my toilets, let alone a huge chalk mess along with the rest of the havoc they create... Just thought I'd inject some realism here!

It looks like the carport area has now been fenced off into a side yard/ patio area. I'm wondering why they got rid of it, and where they park in the winter in Denver? On the street? That would be difficult with the snow they get there...

I like the origami-ish looking pendant in your dining area... Can you share a source? (p.s. Great blog!)

It is insane to spend that much money on a dresser/ changing table. First of all, the pulls on that piece look like they could cause some serious dents in a toddler's head, and you really want to spend that amount for something your kid is shortly going to be banging on with a toy wooden hammer and coloring all over? It would be much wiser to just buy a quality vintage dresser from Craigslist, and add on one of the generic changing pads that just screw/ snap on the back of any dresser. By the time my kids were 8 months old, they were too wiggly to change on a table anyway, so you end up just changing them on the floor.
What people buy before they have kids is SO different from what you really need once you have them! Oh well, live and learn... Good luck.

It's fun to window shop these designs, but get real. I just bought a really cute Little Tikes table & 2 chairs off Craigslist for $20. I guarantee it's more functional, and no need to stress out when kiddos hammer, draw or scratch all over them!

As far as functionality goes.. there is one plus: a padded dresser might be nice in avoiding a baby/ toddler bump or bruise here and there. However, everything in a baby's room/ home gets dirty... Poop, pee, puke, boogers, crayons, dirty sticky fingers with who-knows-what, etc... this dresser would be impossible to clean without just removing the padding... what a pain! NOT functional!

Sincerely,
A mom of 18 month old twins

Thank you for sharing this pretty room! It's great to see such a beautiful room put together in a small space. You have great ideas that are very helpful and inspiring for those of us that also have small nursery spaces.

The dresser is such a happy yellow color already... I would just incorporate some yellow fabric prints into your room decor and work with it as is!
