Crate and Barrel Azure sofa is not as curvy in the front and not as low but very similar. I think it's discontinued. :(

Our biggest splurge to-date was our Carpe Diem bed/mattress. Thinking about how much it was makes me a bit ill (even on "sale", but I love it. It is hand-made and hopefully will last the rest of our lives (ok, we will probably replace the topper every 10 years)

I paid full price for our Room and Board dresser and nightstands, because I wanted something made in the US. I love the clean lines, and their delivery/customer service is amazing. I do not live near a R&B store anymore so when the grey wash was introduced, I had them bring both colors so I could "shop at home". I eventually took the more traditional brown over the grey, but it was nice to know I could look at both before deciding. They are great pieces and work well, but I wish they were dovetailed like traditional furniture. I read the reviews online before purchasing and am very happy with decision overall.

omg, you have a very similar sofa to one that i *can* inherit! it just looks a bit lower (or longer, hard to tell) I would love to know what you eventually decided. I am torn as well. One of my motivations is to save it from the landfill and have things from my childhood home. But what if it's not a "great" piece - is it still worth it?

where is that garbage can from? am trying to find one that the toddler won't dig into. thx

I love the "4 poster bed"...what are they using to hold up the sheers? The lighting is great as well. I especially love the lights behind the headboard. How did they do that?

I recently saw a $5000 mattress marked down to $1500 (KING). Forgot the name of the store, but it was right across the street from Soho Bloomingdales (on east side of Crosby). It was one of those Eco-mattresses made of corn husks or corn fiber. I saw it there 2 wks ago and I think they had a couple in stock. The reason they were marked down is b/c when they are shipped from mfr, they have to be rolled up. After 6 months, the retailer has to roll them out, hence they are marked down.

I agree with BB. One of the reasons I am moving out of my current apt is that it faces three buildings and gets very little natural light. We have to have lights on ALL the time. I should have known better, but when I was looking we didn't come to see it in the day (only evening) and even though I asked, I really should have seen it during the day. Something else *will* turn up as long as you are able to wait. Good luck.

Perhaps you can find a place that rents the cleaners (ie Loew's, HD) I know even some grocery store rent carpet cleaners, which might work if you could find a small one.

Have you tried spot shot? It worked well for me on ivory upholstery (though the stain was recent).
