Juleeann2.0 - I store my carafe in a cabinet and leave the base on the counter. The carafe would not clear the upper cabinets so this was the best solution for me.

Just an update on the "Trend Collection" at AS. I just called and inquired. On the website, it was listed as "starting" at $8/sf. When I inquired about the 221 Brilliant, I was quoted at almost $19/sf - eek!!! Would love to see a more updated "affordable" tile round up.

I'm surprised how the new Renovation Raiders hasn't come up. That show just makes me so mad! There is no way a kitchen remodel happens in a few hours. I don't care how much prep work they do!

Really nice. Agree with Terry, the key to a nice looking anything is to get rid of the visual and actual clutter. We are remodeling our mudroom right now which used to have a coat closet that wasn't very functional, so we moved the laundry appliances in there (they used to be in the mudroom itself). We are planning on building mudroom storage for coats, etc, and then struggle with the amount of *STUFF* we had to store. So my new solution is to move all of the out of season/rarely used items somewhere else and keep only the items that are used on a daily basis in the mudroom. I know this is not a "new" idea, but it's new to us and hopefully it will work.

I blame the internet and Facebook. Seriously though I was contemplating purchasing inserts for my day planner as I was much more organized with it.

Funny, when we moved into our home, a dresser was one of the first purchases we made. I find large storage pieces keep things much more organized, if not at least hidden from company. We have 3 downstairs and I love them.

we painted our knotty pine ceiling and have NEVER looked back. We have wood floors, a wood credenza. no reason to have it EVERYWHERE! Good luck with your decision.

great list. agree about priming. esp if you are using expensive paint, it really improves coverage of finish paint and you end up using less of that.

also we typically have a lightly damp rag nearby to wipe up anything that isn't covered that accidentally gets painted. easy to remove paint when it's wet, not so much when it's dried up.

finally, don't skimp on brush clean up. brushes will last longer if you take care of them. i made the mistake of being lazy and wrapping my brush for too long (more than a day) and it took forever to clean.

Loved our bright yellow bugaboo bee. Nice pop of color even in the dreariest of days. I don't think color really becomes "outdated".

Crate and Barrel Azure sofa is not as curvy in the front and not as low but very similar. I think it's discontinued. :(

Our biggest splurge to-date was our Carpe Diem bed/mattress. Thinking about how much it was makes me a bit ill (even on "sale", but I love it. It is hand-made and hopefully will last the rest of our lives (ok, we will probably replace the topper every 10 years)

I paid full price for our Room and Board dresser and nightstands, because I wanted something made in the US. I love the clean lines, and their delivery/customer service is amazing. I do not live near a R&B store anymore so when the grey wash was introduced, I had them bring both colors so I could "shop at home". I eventually took the more traditional brown over the grey, but it was nice to know I could look at both before deciding. They are great pieces and work well, but I wish they were dovetailed like traditional furniture. I read the reviews online before purchasing and am very happy with decision overall.

omg, you have a very similar sofa to one that i *can* inherit! it just looks a bit lower (or longer, hard to tell) I would love to know what you eventually decided. I am torn as well. One of my motivations is to save it from the landfill and have things from my childhood home. But what if it's not a "great" piece - is it still worth it?
