I am a big fan of Angelpoise knock-off lamps. The Ikea Tertial is a little batty, but you get what you pay for - it needs some hacking to be functional, but at $9, you can't really go wrong. 10 Amazing IKEA Desk Lamp and Task Light Hacks |

Someone else mentioned the Eames side chair, which was my first though. Institutional chairs in that vein (stackable, pre-80's office/school workaday seats) make a nice contrast to the classic elements. Chair Suggestions for Fab Dining Room? Good Questions |

I used to live near Reed college (just off Holgate blvd, to anyone familiar with the Portland area), in a neighborhood of very plain Cape Cod saltbox houses, but on the edge of an odd Eichler-style encampment - blocks of these mid-century houses, seemingly dropped in from California amongst the pines & rain.
