ankarli is right. the key to getting a fully cooked cake is your fire. do not place the foil wrapped oranges directly in the fire, but rather close to it where it still gets direct heat.

johndoughy, my husband and i both worked at outdoor stores and could survive in the wilderness for days with only a spiderco, but we still think whisks are MAGICAL. we hope one day you will too.

I second Lula B's. Also try Curiosities in Lakewood. Very similar to Uncommon Objects in Austin!

If you store opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil it will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Hsilvo, Rhythmic Blue. Our guest bedroom paint color is called Asparagus, and the kitchen is Portabello. We are fans of Behr and love paint colors named after food.
ALK*, we used string swings ... you can get them at any guitar shop, and they are easy to install.

Thanks again, to everyone who voted for us. Looks like we've made it on to the next round ...

If we win a major award like a plastic leg lamp, you all will be welcome to come view it from the street.

scootergirl, about 5 min north of downtown. bring your vespa and some shiner.

poke, it's actually an old oak kitchen cabinet that we picked up at a flea market. there aren't any glass doors on the front, just open with a teal / light blue milk paint inside. you are from dallas? sending spiral diner love your way ... and perhaps some cafe brazil migas.

mollyhwright, you are famous now that your sigmund art on the chalkboard door is displayed for all to see. monchie's would be proud (so would lois).

abbydennis, if you're ever in dallas ...

Many thanks to everyone for all of your encouraging comments! Our house is always open to visitors. We think you'll feel right at home if you have an appreciation for good food, great company, cold Shiner, and Ray LaMontagne.

To answer some of your questions, we purchased our woven club chairs from World Market about four years ago.

The wall color behind the desk is the same as the rest of the living room ... it's called Rhythmic Blue. Our guest bedroom paint color is called Asparagus, and the kitchen is Portabello. We are fans of Behr and love paint colors named after food.

The chair in picture #4 is a vintage Eames that we found on Craigslist. My dear friend Molly likes to call it our ET chair. Phone home.

Our kitchen cabinets do have molding on the doors. If we could have submitted a 6th photo it would have been of our kitchen. This is one of my favorite places to spend time with Tim. Two very different cooking styles = beautiful chaos.

The shelf to the left of our stove is from Ikea. We cut off the bottom two shelves so that our trashcan would fit underneath. Not quite Ikea hack worthy, but close.

Thanks again for all of your comments and support!

we leave our vintage camera tripod christmas tree up year round (see http://www.re-nest.com/re-nest/creative-reuse/7-bizarre-yet-wonderful-christmas-tree-alternatives--071146) ... our love language is gifts, so we leave fun things for each other under it throughout the year. the white lights look great at night.

My twin sister and I used to sneak Easter candy to bed in the bottom of our footie pajamas. Now I know better than to leave the wrappers stuffed in the feet! I heart Easter candy ... and carrots!

we have had renter's insurnace through USAA for 4 years. we pay $13.47 per month for $60,000 worth of coverage - never thought we would use it until our condo was struck by lightening 4 weeks ago. goodbye iPod, record player, tv, surround sound, lamps, etc. now we would never think about going without it! it is definitely worth having it!
