Yes...every apartment, actually. My current landlady asked that I run color choices past her so that she could okay them, first, since I'd expressed interest in painting. My intentions were good, but after picking up some samples pots, I got carried away, and before I knew it, I'd painted the entire place without ever telling the landlady. I was afraid to have her see it, but finally, after a few months, I had no choice, since she had to get into the apartment for something while I was at work. I left a note on the door that said "hope you like the place, and that it isn't too much of a surprise". She left me a one word response..."gorgeous". She's since asked me if it's okay to use it as a model for perspective tenants, so I guess it worked out fine.

I'm pretty certain that the sofa in the first photo isn't Mitchell Gold/Bob Williams. It's a Hutton, from Room and Board.

I know that books arranged by color are a pet peeve to some, but I really like the way it works here. The photo highlightng the relationship between the Eames Hang-it-All rack and the books I think is pretty inspired, also. Love the orange globe fixture over the white table. And yes, the cat is bad-ass.

In a crevice of my 1920 basement I found, wrapped in a hand-stiched flannel holder, a bamboo fly ffishing rod. Assembled, it must be 12 to 14 feet in length, and in great condition.

I would use draperies in the front parlour, and use the same fabric, or a coordinating fabric, for Roman shades in the dining room.

Hi Rayn, I use a mitt that you can pick up at places like PetSmart, Target, etc, made of that red velvety material used to make lint brushes. It's almost like an oven mitt made of the stuff, and I run it over anything the cats have been on. Works like a charm and lasts a really long time. the hair come off the mitt just as easily by rubbing it the opposite direction.

Art Is Necessary - The bedspread is from a website that I beleive is now defunct called 'The Mad Turban'. I bought several pieces from them, years ago, and they've held up over time. I use one of them as a beach blanket. Washes up well.

There are, in fact, two cats. The one with white on him is Indy, the baby at 14 1/2 years, and the other is Tigger, 15 1/2. You're looking at a combined total of about 30 pounds of feline, there. Maine coons are the best.

Hey Pseudoscientist - I'm sorry I missed the other part to your question. The color in the kitchen is Palladian Blue from Benjamin Moore's Historic Collection. The color code is HC 144. I've used it a couple of times, now, and it's an interesting color. Sometimes blue, sometimes green. I was more or less inspired by the blue green of some of my pottery pieces, and it just feels like a color that might have been used in a kitchen from the 20s.
