theres a house near me that has a huge stuffed donkey kong and winnie the pooh tied to the upstairs varandah/basketball hoop... i think they occasionally change them (outside in the weather.. yuck) but they stay up for years.

a friend of mine always lovingly remembers her childhood town in holland where people decorate their front window for christmas and they always went on walks looking in and admiring everyones displays... I think that is lovely! so maybe as a once a year thing.

i have a rack that hangs over the back of my bedroom door - holds scarves, belts, small handbags and my dressing gown :) if only it looked as attractive as these! for those asking about door gaps (Im in Australia though) but my house is old and original heavy indoor doors and there is plenty gap for door hanging things, so maybe more likely in old houses...

I have four kids that share a room! (11,9,6,3) Yes there are sometimes problems but hey what can you do? We sometimes stagger bedtimes (easy- with the person who asked about large age gaps - the olders get to stay up later while I read to the youngers) and sometimes if too much giggling is going on someone gets banished to mum and dads room to fall asleep alone and moved later into their bed.

my kids have woken up in the night but we are happy with cosleeping, but they woke in the night when we only had two kids, or they had their own room. So sharing doesnt really affect that.

however THEY will wake eachother in the morning, so when they were little we often had them all up at the same time.. now my 11 year old sleeps through ANYTHING and I get her sisters to force her out of bed :)

one of our favourite homemade presents my girls made eachother were felt iphones! I sewed two pieces of black felt with a piece of plastic in the middle. Then white rectangle on the front. They then drew favourite apps on to the felt. Cupcake maker was the star of the felt iphone for our 4 year old. Cute little gifts... so I say why not!

I often go to ikea just to look. Love all their made up rooms. Mum and I go on dates to Ikea. Funny enough when I visit Ikea I suddenly feel the need to live in tiny spaces with storage to the roof. Makes me want to give up my house and live apartment therapy ikea style. lol

I follow Advanced Style Blog and it was fun to see one of the advance style ladies chosen for this campaign. This lady is also very slim I believe she was a dancer in younger years. Here is another page layout http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/lanvin-features-82-year-old-jacquie.html

did anyone mention $$$$.... thats why many people share on blogs. On the hope to make money, have their post shared on other blogs etc. I have a blog. I enjoy it and the small amount of readers I have. You feel connected when people say they really enjoy the way you write. I dont think its necessarily the need for approval, or having ego stroked as I would be fine without the blog. I would also love to be one of the lucky bloggers that make money off it, but until then... I'll just plod along sharing crafts, kids stuff, parties, and general family life.

growing up my mum complained about a similar problem but in the boy tween age. EVERYTHING was skulls or aliens or skateboards type stuff. Nothing normal or plain. All kinda 'tough and destructive looking'. She would get annoyed at the people who made/allowed all the stuff to be the same. (this was australia so maybe it was different elsewhere)

@ hyzen - recently my family grew 5 big lettuces which we would pluck as needed. Those lettuces fed us for over two months and we are a family of 6! (given we didnt eat salad every day more like 2-3 times a week with plenty of other things added to stretch it. My neighbour also plucked a leaf for her sandwiches every few days. They can go a long way. This is a great idea I might try.

this is funny to me as this is pretty much the only way water heaters are in australia.. I've never seen different... so usually they are inside the house? (obviously in cold areas)

I had three girls share and now I have four girls in one room! these ideas are great. currently I just have two sets of bunks. When the baby was still in the crib My other 3 girls chose to push two singles together and all three share the new 'double' bed. It was winter at the time and thought it a great idea to keep eachother warm. It wasnt a long term solution but for 8 months or so they loved it. There are many reasons why people have kids share (we rent out our third room to international students to help cover expensive city rent, location - smaller house but near work/city, unexpected pregnancy - happened to us) we too like that they actually dont mind being together. There are complaints but not too often. I think its good for them and hope to have a little larger house when they are teens - probably two to a room ( ours are 11, 9,6,3 years old) - though I pretty much squealed and called my husband over at 'charming room for four' we have always wanted a long skinny room so we could do that for our girls. That room was pretty much exactly how my husband planned out a room if we could build a house! A girls dorm room! lol

Ha! I purposely ring my mother when I need to houseclean. I am more motivated, do more and do it fast when I am on the phone! I can talk to her for half an hour or more and get so much done! otherwise I spend too much time on the computer ignoring it all... lol

we attended this art installation at the art gallery in brisbane australia just last month. It was amazing and wonderful for children. The artist definately has some fun stuff going on and has been making art for 60 years.

I actually think it would be sweeter with the time zone difference. You could look at it when awake and be reminded of your other.. personally I couldnt handle hearing their heartbeat while trying to sleep.. it would be like an annoying dripping sound or something that would keep me awake.. lol
