In my family, we draw a name for a gift exchange. We all put our names in a bowl and we draw which person we're going to buy a Christmas gift for. That includes, my brother and sisters, their spouses and their adult children. The younger nieces get gifts from all of us. My niece picked my name so I had to make a list for her. Knowing that I might get only one gift, other than maybe from my close friends, I'm rethinking everything on my list. I do have a long list of things I want badly, as you say, we see things in magazines but now also on Internet, in blogs, Pinterest, Etsy, etc. My Pinterest boards and Etsy favourites are full of things I really want lol Making that list for my niece, it now makes me think twice about what I really really want. I recently bought a house that was built in the 20's and renovated. I have a tile countertop and it's really no problem, keeps easily clean, the grout is clean also and the surface is not uneven, rather flat actually. The counter is at least 4 years old since I know the previous owners stayed 4 years and didn't do the renovations, so for sure it's older than 4 years old and have kept really well. I have one cracked tile but that's it for bad review. And I'm not one to always clean immediately after cooking, so it doesn't seem to stain either. I also say no. My parents had them in the basement when I was a kid, it was ugly then, it still is ;) Wood Paneling: The 60s Favorite Is Back |

It's only been a couple months since I started on Pinterest and reading design blogs. I started because I bought a 1920 house recently and I'm only moving in a couple months, so that's 6 months waiting all together. I needed inspiration but mostly I think I needed to project my creativity somewhere in the meantime. I was thinking just recently how creative I used to be and how I used to have great ideas of my own before and also that I should have written my own blog a long time ago because I already had some of the same ideas long before I started reading the blogs. Now, I'm not sure what is mine or how much I've been influenced. Or like you, how much I'm trying to impress. We're all around the world and we're going to all end up with the same decor lol Like you I started reorganizing things around a bit and it does help. Inspired by Nate Berkus and the blogs, I tested things out by creating new vignettes on side tables, piling up a couple of books, rearranging things and taking objects from other rooms, even from my drawers and placing them somewhere else, more in sight. So thank you for this post, most excellent and now I feel a bit more normal ;) Avoiding Catalog Burn-Out: Love the Space You're In |

Funny, I was asking myself the same question a couple weeks ago, I'm moving and would like to get rid of the old tattered garbage cans. All I could think of was to wait for the garbage men and tell them to take them away lol How Do I Throw Away a Trash Can? Good Questions |
