Where is the Madsen? We have had one for four years and it's going strong, and is half the cost of most of these. I can take 2 kids to the grocery store or the beach with all of the cargo that entails. The box is in the back and it rides and feels just like a regular bike.

Oh I'm so glad you posted this! Lately we've been taking our kids swimming on sunday afternoons and getting home just before dinnertime. I've resorted to having frozen pizza for dinner those nights and am missing homemade pizza. This lets me have it both ways!!

My 5 year old son often likes to help make dinner. Not all of his tasks are actually useful, but if he says he wants to help I will find something for him to do. He can measure and mix, work the food processor, dress a salad, break and whisk eggs, set the table.

We keep the roasted and salted nori and the sushi nori around all the time because my 5 year old basically can't get enough of the stuff. He eats both kinds for snacks and I make him "sushi" all the time just by moistening a sheet of sushi nori and rolling it up with slices of tofu and veggies, not even any rice. Oh yeah, and we make "nori shake," ground up nori with salt and sesame seeds, which he dips veggies into. So, yeah, it's a big staple around here.

Hi everyone, this is Susan, the OP here. Thank you so much for all the great ideas! I'm thinking I might pickle half and roast the other half so that we can use up a little at a time. I'm inspired!

I use them as a base for bread -- whiz cooked grains, water, yeast, and a cup of WW flour in a food processor (or blender), then cover and leave out on the countertop for 12-24 hours. A lovely sponge for your next loaf of bread.

I made these with the following tweaks: didn't use brown rice (too lazy to cook it), used oats instead a bit more flour and an egg to bind; grated beets instead of dicing them; used pinto beans instead of black beans (it's what I had on hand); forgot garlic and parsley. They were delicious!
