Last year, I saw a documentary on farm workers in Spain, growing tomatoes. If you eat Spanish tomatoes that cost 0,75€ per kg, that is as unethical as eating factory farmed meat, because you make somebody suffer for your food, in this case human beings. It is the same with cheap clothing and many other things. If you want to save money on food or such things too much, somebody WILL pay the price for you, with his or her living conditions. That's just not worth it. The Ethics of Eating Meat Contest: The NYT Announces the Winning Essay |

I heard that you shouldn't eat carbs before exercising, because though they give you a boost, they are the first thing burnt during sports, instead of burning your body fat. What is a good idea, though, is to eat protein, such as some yoghurt, or cheese or a can of tuna, because the protein is needed to build your muscles. My in-laws always have breakfast salads, usually made from one single veggie: Steamed zucchini, tomatoes, cooked celeriac, whatever, with a light vinaigrette. That's the main part of their breakfast, supplemented by a good portion of protein, usually good cheese, and crisp bread. What about preparing tortillas with many kinds of fillings? You could have some beef, shredded chicken, cheddar, corn, beans, tomatoes, salad, peppers, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, chopped cilantro etc. - you name it. You would have to do quite some preparing in advance, but most of it can either be served cold/at room temperature or be reheated in the microwave. Plus it's fun to assemble at the table, and it's communicative ("Could you give me the corn?"). We had recently had it with 10 persons and it was awesome. Help!
