I love the room and I love the chairs. I think it had a little more interest before the white woodwork. Now it looks more unfinished and a bit blinding.

I love the playfulness and romance of a tree house. I love the simplicity of this particular tree house, but as a neurotic Mother the lack of railings freaks me out. I

Seriously check out Chicago's own Nicolet Candle Company. I discovered these at a design fest after years of being disappointed with mediocre candles that didn't have a scent when lit. These soy candles are fragrant and fabulous!

Autumn 1956, I was born in the late 50's. I grew up in a home that might have been similar to yours. It also had only 1 bathroom. There were four kids in my family and, yes, there were arguments (3 of the 4 are female) over bathroom time. We got over it! Because it was the baby boom era it wasn't uncommon for families to have 5, 6, 7 kids or more in this same model house. When I was married with 2 children we had a three bathroom house. I hated having all those bathrooms to clean! Plus, a small space can keep a family close. Now I'm divorced with grown kids and live in a very cool, tiny apartment in a great Chicago neighborhood. I love my small space. I went full circle and I love it.

I'm going '70s on this one. Not the gold and green MCM type '70's, but the hippie-ish style. I see a lot of mismatched, heavy woods, and layers of deeply colored earthy fabrics. It's got a very warm and groovy vibe!

I took a 16-week course at the Illinois Institued of Art to get a certificate in interior decorating. The instuctor told us to always make sure the legs of all the furniture matched. Oy! She had a background in decorating suburban model homes. Talk about flat.

I love the little table top fire place, but $500.00 is way more than my entire season's shopping budget! How about some equally unique ideas for the 99%?

The above posts confirm that maybe we're coming to our senses. Who wants to trudge out to a Wal-Mart to be one of 400 people fighting for one of the 6 items the store actually has in stock? It's so vulgar.

I think this was an eye-pleasing man place. Yes, I also qestioned the inside-the-fridge photos. I have to say though, that the critique should be thoughtful, and design focused. If someone opens up their home to us, they're opening up their heart as well. Play nice, kids!

Hello, Folks! I'm a bit late, but since President Obama calls Chicago home, and Chicago is known for pizza, (especially deep dish) it's perfectly appropriate that he'd be shown with pizzas.

Having grown up obsessed with Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills Nash (and Young) I sort of hyperventilated looking at this tour. It's so warm and inviting and still has that hippiesh 70's vibe. How lucky to live there. Enjoy!

Love, love, love Chicago! I moved here about a year ago from one of Chicago's insipid far Northwest suburbs, which are void of anything cultural. For me, being in the city is like a starving person being in front of a huge buffet. I want to taste it all. There's so much to do and see, sometimes it's hard to find the time to take it all in. I'm working on it.

I don't mind updating a bad kitchen or bath, but I do think even a modern design should pay homage to the character and age of the home. Why buy an old home, only to make it look like a standard issue, modern condo? Anyway, nice job. I just wish it nodded more to the era of the home.

I totally agree that you have to do what's right in your relationship. I wish our society didn't put so much emphasis on sleeping in the same room. It doesn't work for everyone and it doesn't mean you don't have a strong, healthy relationship. I think sleeping apart strengthened my relationship because I wasn't crabby and dog-tired during the day due to my husband's jack hammer snoring. Plus, those "visits" seemed more like the old days when we were dating.
