We used to have a similar couch, and we did pale green walls that actually worked really nicely with it. It sounds like that's not your asthetic though--I always thought grays and black would have been awesome with it too.

So pretty! I have this color in my living room and it just feels so nice to be surrounded by it.

Thanks everybody! I agree that the room is almost TOO big, but it's so full of angles and nooks, and closet doors and built-ins, that our furniture positions are actually pretty limited. And I LOVE the idea of bumping out the ceiling!

MissRuth773, we're in Beaverdale. It's such a great neighborhood!

I was unimpressed with how bamboo held up to our two golden retrievers. Within six months of normal wear there were deep scratches. We did go for the vertical orientation in the natural (lighter) color, which I believe is the weakest form of bamboo flooring. It looked beautiful but it was not for dogs. Absolutely go for hardwood (especially if there's some under that carpet!). We now live in an 80 year old bungalow with oak floors and they're faring much better.

I'm not a wood purist either, but painted hardwood makes me cringe.

I saw a great idea on Pinterest the other day. Won't work for my bed because it's on a half-wall, but would be gorgeous for high ceilings (you'd have to pick a pattern that highlighted your beautiful headboard instead of hiding it).

When EVERYONE uses something like the Expedit, there's usually a good reason. We have a big one in the craft room and two smaller ones for my daughter, and they are unparalleled. It's perfect in your space too!

I'm going to unload an enormous pile of no-longer-needed bulky items, including some baby gear and a huge box of maternity clothes, that are eating up a chunk of my basement. I've been putting it off for awhile, but I've already Craigslisted a few items and it's amazing what a difference it makes in your psyche!

We sold a nearly new car on CL last year. After dealing with several rude or crazy emails and one lookie-loo who made an insultingly low offer, we ended up selling it to a very nice couple who paid our full (fair) asking price. Being up-front and honest, and going the extra mile (we had recalls taken care of, oil changed, and thoroughly cleaned it) are usually how we end up with good people and fair deals.

My daughter is prone to diaper rash and we find that Triple Paste is the only cream that reliably knocks it out. I just cut some liners out of scrap fleece that we place in the diaper when we put the cream on her, and it has saved our microfiber dipes from having any repelling issues.

My method is to chop them all up and tape them to the wall in a particular location. Pull down the ones that don't speak to me over a couple days, without overthinking it too much. Then move them to a different location a time or two and keep paring down the same way. Within a week or so I'm usually down to one or two and by that point it's a matter of taste. I've never been unhappy with a paint color this way.

We have two grays in our house, Behr Classic Silver and Benjamin Moore Whitestone Both are too cool for me for a living room but I love the serenity gray brings to the bedroom.

I have this palette in my living room too! Not the easiest to work with, but I love the eccentric vibe you have going. Very cool!

I happen to dig a good Mamie Pink bathroom for the kitsch value, but you can have the tile coated as you would a cast iron tub (http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/article/0,,197046,00.html)--and of course, the tub at the the same time. We saw some houses in our 1930s neighborhood with original bathroom tiles that had been made gleaming white this way. If you do decide to go that route, consider keeping the black tiles. You'll keep the house authentic with a much more classic look.

I've been more impressed with Behr in recent years. In our first house we ended up needing to go back for a second gallon to even make it around a typical master bedroom on the first coat. But I've used the new stuff several times in this house and been really impressed with the coverage and color. And I absolutely agree that BM's Ben line is fantastic too. Olympic and Dutch Boy are the worst we've used.

I recently made some much like the PBK ones for our new little one's nursery. They're made of simple cotton and they wash like anything else, and they're perfect in a little girl's room (http://www.twohandsbleedingheart.com/2012/08/baby-sister-gets-new-room.html).
