I think this is a great list and so right on. I especially appreciate #10 because after dealing with people all week at work I sometimes need a quiet evening or weekend to recharge. No need to feel guilty for that!

I think teal or dark plum would look beautiful with the colors you already have going on. A darker mustardy yellow would be a nice accent color with either of those and help make the yellowish walls look on purpose. I wouldn't fight it, I'd try to work with it. I don't think I would bother with trying removable wallpaper or applying fabric to the walls. You can totally work with what you have and make it beautiful. I'm with everyone else who recommends command strips for hanging art. Try shopping second hand for stuff if you end up going out of your typical blues/nauticals so you don't have too much invested when you're ready to leave.

I can't believe Gregor the Overlander series (by Suzanne Collins) isn't on here! It's a wonderful, imaginative kids series.

I prefer light and airy spaces, and since you wont have natural light, I would paint the walls a light color. If you don't want stark white try Benjamin Moore's Pale Oak. I have it in my Master Bedroom. It's a warm light grey that is a great alternative to white. I would also think about painting the ceiling a very light blue to give it a lift and the illusion of sky.

Love this house! Very much my kind of style. Great use of color. Love the black and white striped chairs. I have 2 white rattan chairs that I've been contemplating painting black stripes. Now I have to do it! Also, Hank is adorable. A dog makes a house a home. :)

I've lived in some very small places. I was always picky about my furniture having some kind of storage value (for instance my coffee table was a trunk where I kept my extra blankets and bed linens.) We also had a place where the dining table folded down against the wall and the other wall was floor to ceiling built-in shelves that doubled as a "ladder" to climb up to the loft bed. I actually loved living in tiny places. I could do it again in a heartbeat!

These are great tips but there are always exceptions. I say if you love it, it will go with all the other things you love. This is how you get your own unique style and a house that doesn't look like everyone else's or like it came from the page of a catalog. Your house will look like you.

The point is that they made us all look. Although, I'm a sucker for before and afters so I don't really need a sensationalized headline to hook me. This project is very inventive, creative, and it looks like a lot of hard work. It's great! It isn't unbelievable. Seems like AT has been getting overly sensational with their headlines lately. I find it unfortunate for the people whose projects are being showcased because it is a letdown. The projects are wonderful as they are. Over-inflated headlines not necessary. Please don't go tabloid on us, AT!

I don't care how other people want to arrange their books. I think arranging by color looks cool. I however do not prefer it that way, though I have tried it. Where I lost it was when I had to split up my book series because each book was a different color. Ha ha! I guess I'm just too OCD to go that far.

Look on etsy. They have a lot of beautiful original art that is very reasonably priced. I think one large piece over the bed would be nice. Something simple and serene like a sky or oceanscape.

I would probably paint it white or light grey. I just painted my bedroom Benjamin Moore Pale Oak it's a very light grey and a good compromise between stark white and a darker grey. It has nice warm undertones. Or you could white wash the paneling to maintain the grain and interest but lighten and whiten it.
