No one who ACTUALLY uses raw wood in such large volume would EVER keep cords of it directly in the living space. I grew up in Maine, where we had two wood stoves in our house as our primary heating source. As Gillianne astutely mentioned, the wood becomes too cured and burns less effectively. And do you really want earwigs (eew!) and spiders crawling all around your living room?

This is a lovely example of urban designers appropriating an aesthetic without any sense of the reality (and very serious complications) behind it. This trend is the pinnacle of ridiculousness.

Great. Now when I fall asleep on the couch my drool can slide across a friend's face.

I'm not seeing the "L.A. farm house" aesthetic promised in the description... But maybe that's because I have no idea what an LA farm house could actually be.

Indeed! The very title of this post ("Wall Candy") immediately evacuates all deeper signification that these religious objects may have. The history of Western interior design is fraught with colonial imperialism (hello, Chinoiserie!). It seems high time that designers read up on some modern cultural theory.

@Lindsey WD (and all the other design conformists)

As I observed on another post, this competition should be retitled "Vintage Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Most Conventionally Mid-Century Modern of Us All?"

Only a small minority on this site can seem to accept stimuli that go beyond an Eames chair, a cowhide rug, a coyly placed IKEA sheepskin, or a set of oh-so-original antlers on a white wall. While this room may have (delightfully) "robotic" tendencies, it looks like the Apartment Therapy members are the REAL ROBOTS.

Bright, vivacious, and brimming with humor, without being kitsch or too self-consciously "retro". Lovely job! Also a great antidote in this competition, which in my opinion could be retitled "Vintage Mirror on the Wall, Who Is the Most Mid-Century Modern Of Us All".

The striped wall is amazing, especially with the white/black stove as well as the green accents in the bottles. You really brought something special to the space. I'm totally enamored.

Great to see another bathroom in this competition... They're generally such difficult spaces to work. I LOVE the use of mustard yellow in a bathroom... a refreshing departure from the ubiquitous soft blue and seashell nonsense. I think we're all a bit over the "vintage silhouette" thing by now, but it is actually appropriate and beautiful with your antique furniture and as a clever nod to the reflections one would normally see in the absent mirror above the sink. Well done!

For large groups of around eight or more people, an amazing game is "Werewolf"!! (also known as "Mafia" or "The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow") It requires only a pen and a few pieces of paper, and the players do the rest. This mind game can be varied in multiple ways by adding a number of optional roles, depending on the number of participants. It's a game that involves accusations, murder, and defense, and I've found it's a blast even when you don't know half the people in the room!

The combination of the neon colors with the sparse American folk furniture and accents is brilliant...It's like Warhol meets Quaker meeting house!

Finally! It's so refreshing to see mismatched lamps and nightstands in a bedroom. And you've balanced the height on both sides by adding the owl to the right of the bed, so it doesn't look lopsided. Love it.
