Lovely!! To answer one question about the floor: yes, i've painted my wooden floor in the kitchen ...white. It was when I still lived in Europe. Everybody thought I was insane. Well, it took me a lot of layers of paint and time but the end result was stunning. Every morning I walked into the kitchen it made me happy. It's been 15 years since then and I still love white wooden floors. Before & After: Abigail's \"Can of Paint\" Quick Kitchen Updates Renters Solutions |

Good luck with your garden. See, I am blessed with a green thumb. It runs in the family, I've watched my grandmother and father attending to the garden and learned simply by observing. Gardening is wonderful, even just having a few pots outside and to see how it grows is a small miracle. Start with something relatively simple.... Herbs are great, thyme is so strong as is rosemary. Yellow is more often than not the result of over-watering, especially with herbs. You will discover more and more pleasure when using the herbs on a daily basis, it will help you to "understand." Certain plants are like dough: temperamental at times ;-). I taught kids to grow their own salad in nothing more than a flowerpot of the 99C store. Good luck and keep us posted! I recently got divorced and had to downsize in terms of living space. The only books I packed were my cook books ;-). I fully agree: there's something, almost comforting, about printed books. It's relaxing and in so many ways easier to plan a menu. Four Reasons Why I Will Never Give Up Print Cookbooks |

Love salty breakfasts; being half Indonesian we don't shy away from fried rice for breakfast. Left-over, that is ;-). Avocado sprinkled with black pepper on whole wheat toast is another favorite. Forget about the sugar ;-)) In Praise of Salty Breakfasts |

Being European this is not a dish we grow up with, I've always wondered and actually never tried. This will be a first and, I have to say, it looks quite tasty. I mean: a can of soup into pasta, really? ;-) Recipe: Grown-Up Tuna Noodle Casserole Recipes from The Kitchn |

Great. I don't have an "outbox," I have a rule: something comes in? Something goes out... Forced by living in a small place and challenged by living with a hoarder for years I am adamant about this rule. Day 2: Set Up Your Outbox Apartment Therapy January Cure |

I've been so incredibly inspired by this January Cure, you won't believe it. This is another one I love and executed. It will be fun to sip cocktails while watching at my frames, whether it be a "real piece of art" or a beautiful postcard I found while traveling or one of my own photographs. Thanks again! After my divorce I moved out into my new place. No television, it would take up so much space and I actually like the way it looks. So my idea is to stay without TV for 6 months and see how creative I will become again. Way too much time is lost by sitting in front of a TV. I know I did;-)). And guess what? I am picking up these pencils again, I am handwriting a letter to a friend who loves in a far-away-exotic-place, I am reading and drawing and at the end of my evening I feel good, productive. Yes, I still have my computer and cut down on hours too: it's like re-inventing my own time again. Gotta log off now: baking an apple pie for friends who come over for coffee tonight. Love it, the one place that needs to be organized is the bathroom. It's where the day starts and ends, right? Although I live in a shoebox size studio, I am fortunate to have a lovely bathroom with tub. And, brand new... Storage is a luxury, I have one unit with shelfs in a corner and had to use that for everything .... So I went to the 99C store and found these darkblue fabric containers...got myself 5 and Bob's your uncle.... The good thing about living in a small space: one needs to be organized and if so, it's actually quite nice.
