While I'm not keen on the colours of this room I can definitely see some potential in the idea. It could work well for a media room (for those of us lucky to have the space) of even a kids lounge/playroom. There is a cinema near me that has a small theater they call the halfpipe and everyone sits on beanbags, it seems to appeal well to the teen audience they are targeting. There is also something about a whole floor pillows of that I find calming!

Our phone books don't have coupons but this year they printed a second version especially for use in the car. It has all the listings at half the size. I use the book and internet equally and at the end of the year the old books get torn apart for art projects and mulch for my garden.

I currently have a few pieces from my collection on loan to my mother - not because I don't like them but more because she had a new office for a short time (while she filled in for someone at work) and wanted the place brightened up. I would think twice about lending art to many other people though and if I was happy to part with it for too long then I guess I don't love it as much and would sell it or give it away.

When I painted the lounge earlier this year we just wanted a quick hassle free solution so we filled the gaps with polyfiller and sanded it back level with the wall then painted. At the moment you can't tell where I have fixed but I'm sure this will also crack at some stage when the house moves again over time. My main concern was just to fix a few soft spots in the original plaster so I could hang artwork where I wanted it so you may need a more permanent solution.

The stairs to the living room/den bother me a little. I can see someone coming home late one night or up early and not quite awake and falling off the side of the staircase into the void. Other than that I love the conversion and I LOVE the desk in the office.

scmtngirl - it's centered from the outside of the step but you are right it looks wrong because of the handrail. It would drive me mad too!

In Australia corn meal tends to be courser (more like polenta), corn flour is fine and usually white or light yellow, and corn starch is the the starch part of the corn so is basically used as a thickener. You may find the corn flour labeled as corn meal in other parts of the world but basically you are looking for the consistency of normal flour. Hope that helps.

if the posters are all a standard size (or few standard sizes) then you could easily do this project with frame clips/swiss clips. You would need a solid backing board of something like masonite, or possibly really thick card would work, and a piece of glass or perspex. The clips then push over the glass, poster, and masonite holding it all together and simply push off again when you want to change it.

Depending on what the hanging fixtures are like on the back it may be worth a few minutes to take the screws/hooks out of the frame to ensure it will sit perfectly flat when it is moved (and make sure the wrapping doesn't get torn). When I last moved the only problem I had with my art collection was that some of the eyelets holding the wires sat out too far to stack neatly.

that door is beautiful! i wish 'modern' doors, locks, hinges etc had half the detail of 'classical' stuff. I have a learnt obsession with photographing doors thanks to my mother and that one is one of the nicest ive ever seen

i LOVE the fact that these don't match and i am so anal retentive i have to have matching sets of everything - the piece of glass on the table annoys me though as it seems to take away from the beauty of the wood.

I don't agree that the top photo feels prison-y or depressing.. perhaps a little too over the top with the colour scheme which makes it fairly dark but that could be easily brightened up.

Seeing all the nice tubs in these photos makes me sad though because water restrictions are so tight here it turns a bathtub into a nice looking dust collector!
