If you are really concerned talk to your neighbors and see what they say.

throw a bunch of funky rugs down and paint the walls, you might be surprised how those cupboards look after you paint the walls an interesting color... or perhaps cover them with some removeable decals/graphics.

Ummm, acutally bepsf, no one is getting shot there. Nor has anyone pooped on my doorstep.

I live in the Tenderloin, thankyouverymuch and I am a single woman who goes running by myself at 5:00 am.

What I have learned is that you will be safe unless you fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1. The Homeless 2. Drug Dealers/Users 3. Hookers/Pimps.

toomuchstuff is right, there are sooo many asian "antique" stores, I would definitely be skeptical. Especially since Z Gallerie also sells two items nearly identical, made out of the same material and hand carved and at a price much lower than Vive Terra:

Tulips won't bloom as fast and will last much longer when you place a few pennies in their vase and add a little gin. I received Tulips yesterday and they were a bit droopy at the stem when I finally got them in a vase, but after adding some pennies and a touch gin they were perfectly upright this morning.
