Levis' has organic and recycled cotton jeans for less than half the price of other organic jeans. I try to buy only their organic jeans, but unfortuntely, the styles and colors are very limited.

Buy the recycled paper ones, they can be composted if you have the availability. We had a housewarming B-B-Q this past summer and composted all of the paper plates and napkins that we used. I hated having to use them, but the fact that they were compostable made it a little better.

I keep fabric forever. Mostly because it has come in handy in the past (in fact just used some fabric I have had about 9 years this week to make pillows for the new couch in my new house) and if I got rid of any of the fabric I have, I would suddenly find that perfect pattern or need. I have however passed some fabric on to other family members who might appreciate certain colors/patterns more than I.

Our house too is a very similar layout, living flowing into dining and then into kitchen. The colors we choose might be a little odd to others, but it works in our space, a golden-orange yellow in the living room, a light celery/sagey color in the dining and (my favorite) bright turquoise in the kitchen. We love the way they looks together and they really bring a lot of life to the house. Turquoise would in fact work the pinkish color of the counter and add a little retro flair to the kitchen (think 50's bathroom colors).

If you do insist on changing the color, please use paint instead of stain. It will be easier to change it back should you ever sell or decide you shouldn't have changed it in the first place.

They are sort of weeds in South Carolina where I am from , but the flowers are pretty and I loved them as a child.

21 medium onions?!? Those are onion fritters, not hush puppies!

The house is very cute, but I would love to see some paint on those walls! I think paint is the cheapest thing you can do to a house to make it feel warm and inviting. Pick out a color or two from your upholstery, rugs, pictures, etc... As for storage, you're guess is as good as mine as I am a similar predicament and having issues with that as well.

Yeah, my dad died a few years ago and due to the fact that he had no will and a rather nasty ex-wife who was his current business partner at the time of his death, my brother and I got very few things that were his. Instead I have a hard time getting rid of the things that he gave me, mostly electronics. They still work very well (I did manage to get rid of the boom box that he gave me for my 13th b-day, almost 20 years ago, it no longer worked), but the older TV, stereo and disc changer I still have (despite the fact that I don't have speaker to attach to the stereo and cd player). I will get rid of them eventually, but it might take a little longer.
