I love the Molly Mutt duvet. My dog just got one and now his ugly brown blanket is stuffed inside a snazzy new duvet that matches (or at least looks nice with) the rest of the house. Also, the cats love it too.

I've been planning this project all winter. I gathered a bunch of pallets last fall and de-constructed them before the snow and they've been "curing" all winter long. Mine will become outdoor furniture.

When I lived in Oslo, I rode mine in the winter. If the streets were clear of ice that was all that mattered. Usually temps rose enough to melt the snow and ice and then fell below freezing so the streets were clear. It was just really really cold! I knew some people who switched to spiked tires. I didn't do that.

Growing up, we had pets and I was allergy free. I developed allergies to pet dander, pollen and dust later. I have 2 cats and a dog and take meds for the allergies. My old allergy doc put it best when he said it is a lifestyle disease. Change my lifestyle, change my symptoms. I can't imagine living in a house without animals, just like I can't imagine not being outside when I feel like it. Pollen or no pollen.

Now I just vacuum a lot.

In Ontario there is worry about invasive pests so the provincial parks sell fire wood, about $6.00 /bag (a bag lasts me 1 day with 3 meals). All proceeds go back to the park system. You can get a hefty fine for gathering wood from around your campsite. That wood is part of the forest and should be left to decompose.

I have seen containers for sale for around $1500 - 1800 on eBay. I understand transportation and such, but 87k. I think someone is paying a high price for novelty.

But I love the idea. I think it is the ultimate expandable housing system.

I have used a metal cigarette case as a wallet for almost 10 years. I get lots of complements on it and keeps me from collecting junk like receipts and such. I even have a picture of my wife glued inside.

I would be really impressed if I saw someone drinking out of a Pace jar. Put some packing tape over the label to preserve it and go with it.

Half the glasses in my cupboard are jars.

I had heard the same thing as MelissaLeigh. It is like admitting your dog is so dangerous, it needs to be advertised.

On another note, I've seen signs for the fire department alerting them to animals. That is rather important.

What if the sign says "Dogs in Yard, Announce Your Intentions"? Would save litigation?

Looks interesting, but I just use a wire brush after the grill is nice and hot. This would be a good trick for camping (when I forget the grill brush).

Also, I would cut the scrubbing layer of onion off and grill the rest for eating!

For years I have used two of these rails to hang my heavy All-Clad pot and pans. The pots and pans on the hooks and the lids slide between the wall and rod. It works great.

My mother-in-law brings me the skymall with every visit, I love it.

I swallowed my coffee at the dining set picture. If I hadn't the "Pet Observation Dome" would have made me spray it. That is hi-larious.

I guess I envisioned this existing, but I can't find anything. I would think a plumber could do this rather easily. My other thought is to use two mixer faucets, one in each hole. They could be mixed/cold or both mixed. (Bathroom too small for his and her sinks? How about two faucets in the same sink!) I do like the faucet that you posted above. That is probably cheaper and and easier than what I'm thinking.

Why not just change the faucets and add a hot and cold water mixer under the sink? Make one side cold only for brushing teeth and drinking water and the other side hot (but adjustable) for washing. Then you don't wreck the aesthetic.

So you have a problem with privilege Gail, I get it. But why so hostile toward people with local organic produce in reusable totes driving hybrids? Isn't it presumptive to think this is due to privilege? Maybe it is due to planning and saving and wanting to be part of the solution.

Or are planning, saving and solving problems privileges too?

20 years ago, my friend's family started organic farming. They were judged by the most people in our small mid-west town to be eccentric hippies, but certainly not privileged. Now they teach those who judged her about organic farming.

We (Americans) are finally learning the big isn't aways better. But I guess learning is a privilege too.

Change a few words from SFGail's post and you get:

Many people live in small spaces, or spaces that are shared by many people because they don't need more. The only reason middle class people can feel self loathing about living in a large space is because we don't have to. The fact that we have choices points more to our privilege than to our upstanding morals.

I think living small is commendable. Living in a well designed small space feels bigger than living in a 5000 sqft McMansion.

Doggie sleeps in his crate (door open) next to the bed. If it is late and obvious that we are not going to bed soon, doggie sighs and trots off to go to his crate. He does get some snuggle time on the bed in the morning, but only when there is a blanket on top of the bed clothes.

The only exception is camping. His bed is next to our bed and it can get cold in that tent and a warm dog feels pretty good.

thanks for posting this. i have wanted to do something like this too, but i couldn't explain it well enough or find pictures of it anywhere to convince my wife.

they also make little peg-like feet that could be used to take some pressure off the wall. but I like the floating look.
