Having lived in a city with major rat problem, I generally have unlined trashcans for paper items, and then use a plastic bag to corral all food/organic items used, and throw it out everyday after dinner/lunch etc. It prevents bugs and rodents not having a bunch of food sitting in a trashcan, even just for a day.

Mostly a lot of video and still camera's and professional lighting equipment. Mostly its my love of taxidermy that causes double takes.

I would paint that fireplace white, hang a nice painting over it (in a nice frame) and put two white bookshelves on either side. Or, some silver industrial shelving.

I've tried to write this comment several times and each time it comes out wrong and in a way where people will jump on me.

Look, don't move. Trust me.

I LOVE cleaning out my closet, beauty cabinet, etc. I also love mopping - but I hate the dishes and laundry

I would only put it in a special sex-room, not in the main area, I think. That's why everybody needs a dungeon.

I own the India Rose one and it was a great investment. It's easy to pack, I've moved with it several times, and it makes the laundry next to the shower look cute instead of gross

I really, really dislike the whole ikea overload in apartments. My friend's apartment is almost all ikea, and I feel like i'm hanging out in a catalog - it feels sterile. I may own a bunch of mismatched plates from different vintage stores, but i'll take that over a complete ikea kitchen set any day.

A word of advice for those thinking of putting the mattress box spring on the floor: get some sort of yoga mat to put underneath the box spring to keep the bed in place, otherwise "getting busy" will cause you to travel halfway across the room.

I bought a cheap fan and spray-painted it matte black. Looks amazing, and I saved a lot of money.

my kitchen is so small two people cannot pass each other in it. If someone is at the stove, they literally have to leave the kitchen in order to let somebody else through to the fridge.

However, this is very common in Paris - which is due to people mostly cooking and shopping everyday for fresh food, opposed to stocking up in one big grocery trip, making the need for space to store alot of food negligible.

My mother has two dishwashers, which have been more than effective. Every apartment i've had never had dishwashers, which I think has something to do with my rent. (you know, the more expensive the apartment, you get a dishwasher)
