Only the historical glazes have traces of lead. The glazes have passed both CA prop 65 and FDA guidelines and testing. Heath has full disclosure about this on their site. The glazes are safe. Sitting in a traffic jam is more toxic. But if it is a concern, I think these are the historical glazes: matte brown, redwood, birch, opaque white and one or two more I forget. Linen is lead free. Heath Ceramics. It is oven-dishwasher-microwave safe and pretty bombproof. I am always amazed how durable and chip resistant it is. And above all it is gorgeous. The Coupe line was designed in the late 40s. Yes, it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and you are paying local crafts people a fair wage and great benefits. Not on the list is 2006 Mark West Pinot. It is from Oregon and incredible. Prices should be around 10 bucks a bottle and restaurants can charge up to 50 a bottle. The secret it to decant the bottle a good 5-6 hours or more before you drink it. (If your decanter has a cork or stopper, decant it t 10-12 hours with the top on.) Let it sit and mellow and will definietly be one of the best glasses of red for under 20 bucks.
