NO! Do NOT add color via backsplash!! Everything you have is minimalist modern & all about MATERIAL, not color. Adding color will make it look cheap and/or cheesy. I recommend a neutral backsplash --- I have soft soft spot for simple white glossy tiles but those only look good if you have an excellent tile person, in which case it would look FANTASTIC!! I fell in love with something VERY similar to what youre refering to (See http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/good-questions/good-questions-where-can-i-find-this-sink-and-hardware-016074). So given budget constraints I got the Grohe 19 291 000 faucet (a little clunkier than Dornbracht or arne jacobsen vola, but it's the only similarly styled one from a mass market line) and the lefroy brooks XO sink. The sink w/all its accoutrements was not cheap but worth it. I also had the same concern re in-wall faucet. But I ended up getting the in-wall anyways bc it's actually very rare that something goes so wrong with the faucet that you'd need to break the wall. Probably by that time (10 yrs!), your bathroom will be so outdated you'll want to do another renovation anyways! Apartment Therapy New York \| NY Good Questions: Similar and More Affordable Sink? I had a professional design and install my ikea cabinets to look as close of possible to the high gloss white cabinets of Boffi/Balthaup catalogs ---and they did an amazing job--total $6k including labor and plenty of custom work (my kicten is 6' X 6' but has odd angles). Then I splurged on appliances, a custom stainless steel countertop and tiled backsplash, going high end all the way. So no, cabinets are not worth $20k. Get a pro who can hack ikea cabinets! EVERYONE will assume your cabinets are expensive as long as the rest of your apt doesnt look cheap. And ikea quality is excellent in cabinets! ok, i dont even understand the visuals in this video. First they show a bunch of various FP dishwashers, none of which are actually theirs. When they finally do show their FP dishwasher in the final scene, they show the dishes BEFORE they've been washed but not AFTER. The voice simple says "Take a good look.... they'll look the same in the morning" Yet there is no video of the morning!! ????? I have the FP dishwasher drawer and it is fantastic!! Cleans perfectly well, not better or worse than any other high/high-ish end dishwasher i've used. So go forth, buy it. I just used Aura in Super White satin finish to paint my ash wood computer cabinet. First i should mention that i this is the first time i have ever painted any piece of furniture. Ever. So my painting skills are not the best to say the least. I read everyone's comments before painting. And let me tell you it was still not easy. I find the fact that you cannot go over the paint more twice problematic bc i dont often get a perfect stroke the first time around---you only have one shot.
