Wow. This post brings a whole new meaning to the "small, cool" contest. Anyone going to send in their photos?

I rarely come to this site anymore - never got over the new format. I know, boo hoo. But, I came, I saw, I actually took the time to login. Just. To vote. For you. Love the place, love the blog (a new favorite) and I hope you get that prize! The credenza project was just icing on the cake!

Well my only comment about the post above is that I missed the original article and all of the ensuing comments because of the new layout design. Thanks for the link to the original. Now I can actually read what all the fuss is about. Makes me wonder how much other content I'm missing these days...

Also get duck tape in different colors (I've gotten it in Target). Just hand a bunch of rolls to kids and watch them go! My children and nieces and nephews (from 4 to 11) were entertained for hours making things on a very rainy day during our summer vacation. I came home with a journal cover and a new wallet - no joke!

This is the first entry which really caught my attention and the only one from which I grabbed photos for my inspiration file. Not just color slapped on the walls, but actual use of the color and thoughtful design throughout the room. Rich and moody - nicely done!

I'm such a procrastinator that I never got the Halloween decorations up. Clean-up problem solved!

I don't mean to be an alarmist, but I'm not sure having your children work with Borax is a great idea. While it is a naturally occurring mineral, that doesn't mean it is without dangers. Borax is often recommended as a "safe" pesticide, fungicide and cleaner, but it is officially classified as a poison. Government sites recommend that people who work with Borax use gloves and handle it with caution. Studies have linked it to reproductive problems in some lab animals, as well as a host of serious disorders at higher levels. While it occurs naturally, that doesn't necessarily mean it is less than ideal for your kids to be using or mixing. While I can advocate for making your own detergent, I'm just not sure your kids should help. Sorry to be a downer...

Actually it might be safer to leave the linoleum. A lot of old linoleum tile has asbestos which woulb be released into the air if you pulled it up. And beside that, the pattern is fantastic!

"The American Academy of Pediatrics discourages screen viewing in the first 2 years of life and recommends a daily limit of 1 to 2 hours of quality programs for older children. Several previous studies documented that US preschool-aged children watch 1 to 3 hours of television per day. Although quality educational programming does exist for 3- to 5-year-old children, television viewing (or similar screen time) before the age of 3 was associated with cognitive delays, attentional problems, and sleep disorders in observational studies."

just saying...
