Before & After: From Grungy Garage to Handsome Home in Bordeaux

Be sure, there is someone you trust watching for the car and the house/flat, while you are walking the stairs or in the elevator. Just ask for example your mom or dad, if they could just sit down on text to the car and watch it, so nobody could go there and steal something. You can´t open and close it every time, especially not, when you are carrying furniture. When we unpacked the things from our car and used the elevator to reach the forth floor, there where people driving by in their bicycles and later we were missing some items.

It really is helpful to have some things, you will need in the first ours, packed separately. Just think about, what would I pack, If I would stay for a camping trip somewhere in the woods. Toilet paper, yes. Underwear and some other clothes to change. Toothbrush and so on. If you have more than 100 boxes, because you are moving with a big family, you really don´t want to have 100 boxes with no idea, what is in them. It is helpful to write on the outside, what´s inside. Sometimes one word is enough.

Don´t get to much into details. You need the time to pack and unpack, not to make a dozen lists. But think about what are we going to eat during the move. Maybe it is easier to just ask someone for help (mom, would you please cook for all of us something chick ) or call for a pizza. It´s not so funny to cook something on the day of a move in your new kitchen.

When you move, you have to touch every item in your home. A very good time to declutter. Just give away all you wouldn´t move to a very far place, where you would just get via plane or ship. I always say to myself, if I would move to Hawaii, would I take this with me? No, ok, it can leave my house. Now. :)

Before & After: From Worn-Out To Wonderful Tricycle Makeover

Oh, that´s something old from summer 2011. I have seen this before. But this is still a very good project and a good reminder. So thanks for posting it again. I´ve got 3 old bicycles from my cousin in the garage that I want to transform from actually ugly to something my girls like as good as new or even better. Maybe they can paint some fingerprint flowers on it or add some stinkers. The first pre-bicycle vehicles of my daughters, like tricycle and a balance bicycle (without pedals) where brand-new and bought by the grandparents. But I don´t want to spend more or less 200€ for a new bike.

I like cats. If my mother wouldn’t be allergic I would buy myself one or two.
But I hate the cats of my neighbor. Of course those animals are not responsible for her strange behavior. And of course she is ill. She is a hoarder. She was since she was a child, as far I heard from others, that know her, from childhood on. She has family in the village, I think it ´s their term to do something (psychological help etc.).
That woman is rich (daddy pays…) and in the past she had different types of animals in her house. Once it was pigs. A lot of pigs. Not one or two, must have been a dozen. Direct neighbors told us, that it was so smelly, they couldn´t use their porch, they could not even open their windows.
I´ve heard a lot of stories about her and her animal hoarding.
She had once over 100 (!) sheep and other farm animals on meadows around our village and every time veterinary department came, they moved the animals in an overnight rescue campaign. Once or twice the animals were not gone and most of them were so ill, that they needed to be euthanized on the meadow. The veterinarian didn´t wanted to move them, they were suffering from foot-and-mouth disease.
Right now, they have “only” more or less 15 cats and all the other neighbors are frustrated. Nobody can leave something textile on his porch. The cats are peeing on those things and shredding them. I throw away my cushions of my garden furniture. Now I need to buy new ones. Those cats are although peeing on some house walls, and the pooh is everywhere. Everybody has lost fun in having a kitchen garden. Last year there were in one row of salad more than 10 pooh heaps some were buried and when I removed the weeds I digged them out. That was so disgusting, I didn´t wanted to eat my vegetables. 
We tried black pepper, chili powder and we have a motion detected light at the house. We although tried some sprays from the garden center that are for keeping cats away, but all this did not function or not long enough. The cats are coming 24 hours a day, every day. Sitting on the window, reading, I can follow them shiting (sorry, bad word) in my kitchen garden. Once I counted 14 at a time, all in your garden, all were walking straight to my kitchen garden to pooh. I´m not sure which ones belong to the hoarder, but I don´t care. They are in my garden. It´s a 1000m² garden. I can´t chance the complete fence.
Neighbors once catched them and brought them to an animal shelter or just abandoned them a few miles away from our village. But she, the hoarder knows all of her cats and walks around then, searching for them and she goes on other peoples ground, without asking. But people are afraid of her. She once tried to kill the veterinarian, who said, that those sheep and goats have to die.
I wouldn´t kill an animal. Some people say, if those cats are in there kitchen garden, they will throw stones or other things at the cats. Someone asked me, why we are not using poisonous meat traps. But why killing those animals, some of them are really beautiful animals and I´m sure, with another owner, those animals would have a good life.
And all those things with chicken wire, plastic forks, I can´t do this, I´ve little kids. It would be insecure for them too.
The local authority told us, that, as far, as those cats are not ill and bad treaded, they can´t do anything. But now all neighbors know, that its soon time for the kittens to be born and we all fear this moment. Those cats are not sterilized and of course they have no vaccinations. Maybe they are connecting for a class action suit. I will only plant peas in my garden this year.
Last year I planted some marigolds / tagetes, I think, that helped a little.

Thanks a lot for the list. I think it gives a good idea for all the things you could and some you shood do more often. :)

No need for haters to blame on Sarah Rae Trover.

Everyone can ajust such lists to his/her own needs.

A small appartment and people with not so much stuff / clutter (? .. :)) can finish these tasks in 5 or 10minutes, others will need a few ours for some of those. I think that depends on lots of thinks like - how many persons life in the household, how big / how many rooms are there, how much stuff is in the closets and so on.

I would never ever clean the walls of my bathroom so often. I´ve seen on a Martha Stuart List the task cleaning the ceiling of the kitchen. ??? My firth thougt was - why sould I do this? :)

For her it works, she just wants to share to help others. :) Use of her list, what you can use and don´t be a hater. :)

How To Clean Your House in 20 Minutes a Day for 30 Days

Laundry everyday - for a one person household to often, for a family with lots of kids or the grandparents living with the family under one roof, makes sense. We are 4 (husband, 2 Kids (4 and 6) and me) and with towels, bed sheets etc. there is enough laundry to have one load every monday till friday and have the weekends off for fun or bigger projects.

I had to laught at the "clean all the windows" task for one day - 20 minutes, thats a joke or not? We have, let´s count, 16 windows in our house, no way that I can clean them in 20minutes or less from inside and outside.

But it makes a lot of sense to me to think about the tasks you have in and around your house that should be done daily, weekly, monthly, every three month, once in a year etc. and to make a To-Do-List and try, if it works.

My mom tells me since years, on saturdays, that she is so tired, she washed 5 loads of laundry and hat to vacuum her rooms (shes living in a 2 bedroom plus living room apartment) and she had to clean the kitchen and tidy up all the things that were lying on tables and other surfaces. And everytime I told her, that it would be much easier for her, if she would just wash one load of laundry after work or maybe before work and vaccum on 2 or 3 days during the week. But maybe she will never change that. :) Not my freetime. I want to have time for my family at the weekends and not to stay in my house and everywhere ist clutter and dirt.

PS: One of the reasons, that we have so much laundry is, that our laundromat is not so big (think it can take 4 or 5kg, bigger ones here in Germany, take up to 7kg) and my kids play outside everyday, in Kindergarten they go to the forest once or twice a week and they are coming home dirty with mud, dark sand, and gras stains and if it´s not that, they can sometimes have toilette accindents and so on.

Isn´t it nessessary to seal the surface of these vinyl floors with something? Imagine Kids trying to peel it or in a museeum thousands of people during one year walking on it, I can´t imagine, that this lasts long.

I bought LED Spot Lamps and they didn´t last longer than normal Spots - money was gone. But my LED Spot made a not so warm light, little blueish.

My kids are now 4 and 5 years old. I have always a waterproof sheet over the mattress and then above this sheet a cotton crib sheet. That´s enough in my opinion. To change you need one or two, better two more crib sheets. If your kid gets a stomach bug, you will be happy to have more than only one to change. But, you can also use a towel if you have used up your bed sheets. I bought 3 for my crib and it was enough for the first month (mattress size 50x100cm), than I changed the bed to a mattress size of 70x140cm and bought 3 sheets for that mattress. But suddenly everyone thought I could need bed sheets and I got second-hand/used sheets from different moms and at the end I had +/- 20 pieces. O_O So I had never problems with stomach bugs. But if I had to buy them, I would buy 3 or 4 and check If I have some towels (bath or shower towels) in a big size, than I can use or some other oft fabric.

If you have more than one baby/kid, and they go through a stomach bug, think about the not so unrealistic possibility that both kids have it the same night (we hat that lucky situations twice^^) and than you will need 4 sheets or more. :)

(Sorry for my bad English, I´m not a native speaker and haven´t used my English since years). :)
