Well that is so SMART! I love it when people can see past a broken item and imagine what it could be with just a little work.

It seems a little reckless to advise people who have trouble waking up (and need to move alarm clock across the room?) to light a candle next to their bed in the morning. Bit too likely that someone could light it and fall back to sleep.

Maybe scented spray or oil if aromas are really important to this plan?

As other people have said, it's the salt. Don't add honey or sugar or whatever; it's missing the salt so it tastes weird (how often do you eat unsalted peanuts?) Either add some in the jar and mix well, or just sprinkle some salt on the spread every time you use it.

Next time, whatever peanut butter you buy, the ingredients should be: peanuts, salt. (Costco has a very cheap, delicious pb that is just ground peanuts and salt, the way it should be!)

Think of it this way... would the guests, after being told that it's been in your luggage since you packed, sat in a car, went through security, sat on the plane.... sat on the tarmac, sat in a car again, etc. want to actually eat it? Delicious chocolates - sure! Local wine - absolutely! Gingerbread cookies? Yep!

Cheese? A frozen casserole? Not so much...

It looks really beautiful - but it's a beautiful photo of a beautiful kitchen so it's hard to tell. I can't determine from the photo how they're powered - do they drape down the wall to a socket?

Is there a reason why they need to be refrigerated? I was hoping to include them in my holiday treat boxes.

IF it turns out to be your water, get that checked out. Sounds scary! You might also want to check your flour and sugar to make sure they haven't gotten overly damp from high humidity -- maybe excess moisture is ruining your recipe? If you're using a machine and not checking the dough, it could be a puddle and you'd never know.

I definitely agree that the recipe sounds way, way off though. Maybe it's 2 TB sugar, not 2 cups?

Yeah, but in just 250 years? I also don't see how it could possibly evolve that way -- how were our ancestors with overbites more successful and able to reproduce more than those with "guillotine teeth"? I don't remember hearing about a massive die-out in the 1700s of people who couldn't figure out how to eat anymore because they didn't have overbites and couldn't reproduce in the face of an onslaught of forks. Am I missing something? LOL!

Magoo1, no, that's not true. Listeria is a real risk for pregnant women, and the scariest thing about it is that it will often kill the baby and the mom has no symptoms. I personally know one woman whose fetus died at 27 weeks from listeria, and know one more person online who had the same thing at 32 weeks. It's not a risk of having a tummy ache or some diarrhea, but can lead to the worst thing that's ever happened to you in your life.

Fresh mayo is great if I'm using a lot for a salad, but the idea of storing a jar of homemade in the fridge to use a tablespoon/week squicks me out. It's so easy to find nice organic mayo, anyway. And hot sauce, you'll pry my Frank's out of my dead hands!
