The coffee table/map drawer? What is that called? That's exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for but don't know what' its called...so don't know how to look for it!

I'm with ChloeSF. I was going to suggest a chair runner and wallpaper, or wainscotting.

I've emailed the owner of those chesterfields no less than 3 times since the ad was posted, trying to buy them and they've NEVER emailed me back. FAIL.

We have a family of gorillas in the apartment upstairs from our own. I tried to approach the mother of the family in a nice way, and even offered to provide her son with slippers as part of a swag basket (the company I work for represents the merch rights for a few toddler-friendly brands that are quite popular) She looked at me as if she wanted to spit in my eye. It's not even that her kid throws tantrums on an hourly basis, and that she's clearly a terrible parent. It's just that he runs NON FREAKIN STOP up and down the apartment, bounces balls, and jumps off furniture. Oh. And there's an incredible park full of kids where he could play all day long, just across the street from us.

So far his jumping antics have terrorized my cleaning lady to the point of running out of the kitchen for fear the light fixture would fall on her head, breaking two wine glasses as our dinner plates and glasses banged together from the vibration, and disrupting Christmas eve dinner with family because no one could hear each other over the jumping and noise from upstairs.

The second time I mentioned the noise to her, again, nicely, she jumped up and down on her floor and screamed at the top of her lungs "You don't wanna f*** with me! You don't wanna f*** with me!" She is right. I sure don't. She sounds like a certified loon. I wish she would move; otherwise I suppose I will give up my amazing apartment. :(

No solutions, but you have my sympathy. They just had another baby upstairs so I'm sure I'll have twice the running and jumping shortly.

Agree with Tricia as well. This is Bicast or PU Leather. Real leather will disress nicely, and can be maintained with leather treatments. This is essentially the plywood of leather. It's sort of bits and pieces fashioned into a single sheet with some batting material underneath to which it is glued to hold together. It's literally the difference between buying something made of solid wood, that is sturdy and will last, and something made of plywood at Target made up to cheaply resemble the real thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicast_leather

A pillow that lights up and makes noise seems problematic if you're actually trying to get some sleep.

What about tile instead? I don't love the painted look, but a really mosaic might be good...
