Mix with sparkling water and pour over any flavor of fruit sorbet. Would be nice in a cocktail that uses a mint infused simple syrup. Or add to iced green tea with a sweetener. Sounds like a perfect summer cocktail mix item!

When I first met my husband, I could make one dish: Shrimp with Spinach Pasta in Rose Sauce. I think he truly did fall in love with me the first time I made it for him. After that, he really thought I could cook. The early stages of our relationship involved him thinking I was a great "cook" and me improvising on the fly all kinds of stuff I'd never made before to keep up the early dating "I want to impress you" facade-ha! (Cut me some slack- we were still in college!). Trial and error, fueled by the desire to cook for myself, because I love to eat, and for loved ones. I learned a whole new repertoire in a similar vein after the birth of my two kids. Cooking for those you love is always inspiring, cooking for a growing family puts you to the test.

Years ago I watched a lot of Rachael Ray. Couldn't tolerate her show for a while, but a friend convinced me to try. That's where I learned basics. Love Ina Garten and the accessibility of food shows and online recipes.

Seems like you could find a similar inexpensive frame at Target, Ikea, West Elm, Lowe's, Home Depot, Craigslist, Ebay, etc. Spray paint black if necessary. Have an upholsterer custom cut foam and upholster in your fabric of your choice.

Written in "Kannada" script? A regional Canadian/Indian hybrid language? With a red maple-leaf on top?! Sorry- couldn't resist. Was trying to get some kind of Acadian reference in there, too, for a triple-bad pun.

Egg salad. Just a little, but it thins the yolk/mayo and adds yummy flavor.

Another title for this post: "Isn't this What Grocery Stores looked like in the Past?" Again, don't mean to be snarky, but it's not a new concept. It's an old one that desperately needs to be revived. I hope it truly catches on and becomes mainstream.

Had to ask my hubby what was going on with BF's funny coon skin cap (he's much more up on Amer. history than I- maybe you all know this one already). He said it was a popular convention at the time and BF's attempt to appeal to the common public. Like when Obama drops the "g" on "ing" words. Funny what goes around comes around.

When we redid our kitchen, choosing solid surface countertops, it was an additional $240 just to have the undermount sink detailing (finished edges). Also, when you choose your sink there are far fewer options of undermount sinks so you will probably pay extra there, too (in our case, $400).

No advice, but if you have a lot of heartburn I bet your newborn will have a full head of hair. One of those weird pregnancy/birth things.

I just got a 74" sleeper sofa that I love. From JCPenney- Midnight Slumber Full Sleeper. Lots of color/fabric choices. I see it's often on sale, so you should be able to avoid paying full price. It's very comfy. You might be able to try it out if you have a store near you that carries furniture.

Tip for drying cast-iron skillets and woks on a burner: turn heat up to super high. Once pan is really hot, turn off burner. Enough residual heat to dry your pan, but you won't forget to turn off the burner.

I've always thought it would interesting to lay a herringbone pattern with one of today's popular, durable flooring materials. Like laminate or vinyl planks. Anyone done this? I think it would look great and be kind of a cool riff on Old World tradition meets New World convenience.
