I have a boy and a girl... very young kids... I'm divorced and they will HAVE to share a room during the weekends that they will be with me. I'm divorced and have 2 kids... just got a house and I'm having a blast decorating it myself. I can not do it all at once but having time between "things" to get is good as I have the time to think it over and get exactly what I want. Having a background in art and design helps quite a bit, some guys just do not have that but they have the money to get someone that does. I say, good for them. my house was built with power and cable outlets above the fireplace. That's the only place I can mount it without running new cables. I do not use my fireplace so I was thinking into converting it to store all the tech components and run the cables up the fireplace behind the wall. Should be an interesting project. Your space, judging by that photo looks narrower. In a space like this I would consider placing the dining table and chairs in that space by the window and the living room space where you have the dining table. If you have a smart phone Sherwin Williams has a free app called colorsnap. it allows you to take a photo or pick one from your library and it will create a harmonious color palette for you.
